Here we enjoy the beautiful beach at Ytri Tunga hoping to see seals who are relaxing at the beach.

Búðakirkja is photogenic and unique in its design. The church is an essential photo stop to make when travelling through the Snæfellsnes peninsula.

Arnarstapi is a small hamlet in Iceland which used to be an important hub for the peninsula's fishing industry. Although the village may be past its prime in terms of economic importance, Arnarstapi stands by a beautiful sea cliff with amazing views of the Faxaflói bay, waterfalls and a diverse ecology and geology. At Arnarstapi you will find the statue of the hamlet's mythical protector Bárður Snæfellsás, of whom an Icelandic Saga was written, a natural arc which you can stand upon and cliffs teeming with life.

A site at which an English trawler stranded in 1948, the beach is named after Djúpalón, a lagoon at the bottom of the beach. The site offers an expansive beach, remains of the trawler, viewing platforms and is close to the Snæfellsjökull glacier. Djúpalónssandur is a sandy beach which contains aong other things four lifting stones, but stone lifting has for centuries been a popular sport and pastime in Iceland. The weight sailors could lift determined their share of the catch of the day and you can test your own might with the famous stones of the beach. Their weight ranges from 23 kg / 51 lbs. to 154 kg / 340 lbs. Its time to channel the Viking within you! NOTE: restrooms are free but not services during the winter season.

Kirkjufell mountain is one of the most photographed and on of the most famous mountains in Iceland. Its arrowhead shape is a sight to see! We will stop where you can take photos of the mountain with a waterfall in the foreground.

Before we head back to Reykjavík we will stop again in Borgarnes for 20 minutes. Time for restrooms and snacks.
