We will take a walk between the locality, there you can learn about its history, attractions, sights and the local lifestyle. Then, you will visit Salinas of Pedra Lume, the main tourist attraction in the region, the only saline in the world located inside the caldera of a volcano. A protected landscape that has a unique view with the salt-covered soil whose colors vary from turquoise to pinkish white. It was elevated to National Natural, Historical and Cultural Heritage and appears on the indicative list of Cape Verde at UNESCO. Then, proceed to Amílcar Cabral International Airport (Driving route), where you will learn the stories of the airline industry in Cape Verde. Then, you will travel to Salinas of Santa Maria, a protected landscape. Following Salinas, you will explore the Santa Maria city, and learn about the history of the city. We will walk through the main streets of Santa Maria, discover the historical places, the local handicrafts and how to identify them. At the end of the tour, you will visit the Water Route and experience the local flavors. Get to know how the lack of this essential good was overcome on Sal island.
