Travel through the town of Gatlinburg and into the western edges of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Once you leave Gatlinburg, you enter a heavily forested area and the road narrows to a single lane through this mountainous area. From here, the trail twists and turns for six miles on a one-way loop. Only cars and trucks can fit on this road, no busses. Along this route, you will come to mountain viewpoints along with historic structures. In the 1830’s and 1840’s this was the American Frontier. You will start down the mountain following a “roaring” mountain stream, for which this road is named, offering views of a waterfall. Once you get back to Pigeon Forge, enjoy a thirty-minute four-wheel drive adventure.
