What you can expect

Begin your adventure with a short hike through lush vegetation to reach the stunning El Rayo Waterfall. Take in the breathtaking views and breathe in the fresh mountain air.

Next, head to the Alambi Reserve, a true sanctuary for bird lovers. Marvel at the dozens of feeders that attract a dazzling variety of hummingbird species.

Continue to the Butterfly Garden, where hundreds of butterflies, including the magnificent Blue Morpho, fly freely around you. Learn about their life cycle and see all stages, from egg to caterpillar and chrysalis.

Then, visit a local orchid garden. A specialized guide will show you the incredible diversity of Ecuadorian orchids, many of them endemic to the region. Be amazed by the variety of sizes, shapes, and colors, including species as small as a pinhead.

Finally, visit the interactive Intiñan Museum, where you’ll get a playful and ethnographic insight into the equatorial line. Stand with one foot in the northern hemisphere and the other in the south, observe the famous Coriolis effect with water draining in different directions, try to balance an egg on the head of a nail, and learn about Ecuador’s ancestral cultures.
