Activity itinerary
Kralendijk (Pass by)
Kralendijk is the vibrant capital of Bonaire, offering a charming blend of Caribbean warmth and island authenticity. Known for its brightly colored buildings, laid-back atmosphere, and friendly locals, the town exudes a relaxed yet lively vibe. We will drive through the short Kaya Grandi, which is the main street of Kralendijk. Its picturesque waterfront is dotted with cozy cafes, colorful shops, and vibrant restaurants. At the end of our tour, you will have the opportunity to explore the capital on foot.
Beyond its natural beauty, the town also provides a glimpse into Bonaire’s rich history and culture, with historical sites and local markets that showcase the island’s unique heritage. Whether you’re strolling along the pier, exploring the local art scene, or simply soaking up the Caribbean sunshine, Kralendijk is a must-visit destination that truly captures the essence of Bonaire
1000 Steps
- 30m
1000 Steps has become a well-known spot for its stunning scenery and the vibrant turquoise waters. You can see turtles swimming in the shallow waters, just a few feet deep, as they feed on the lush algae. I would be delighted to assist you on a snorkeling trip and capture some memorable photos of you with the turtles. At this beautiful location, we can also take a short 10-minute walk along a pathway that runs along the beach, ending at a small balcony that many couples choose for sunset wedding photos.
Landhuis Karpata
- 30m
Next stop is Plantation Karpata, On the coastal road of Kralendijk, heading north, before Gotomeer, lies Landhuis Karpata. Originally called Borneo, was later renamed after a plant that still grows here, the source of the laxative wonder oil. In the past, the buildings of Karpata, dating back to after 1868, served as an important trading center. In addition to goats for hides and meat, the plantation produced aloe, charcoal, and dye wood.
This is also market as one of the top dive sites of Bonaire, from here we will continue to drive towards Goto Lace .
Bonaire National Marine Park
- 30m
We'll stop at Gotomeer, a saltwater lagoon on the northern side of Bonaire, where flamingos often gather. From here, you'll enjoy a beautiful view of Seru Brandaris, Bonaire’s highest peak, located within the national park. Bonaire is one of the few places in the world where these pink flamingos choose to nest. For photography enthusiasts, and if time permits, I have access to some private, lesser-known locations where you can get a closer look at the flamingos. I can also recommend some fantastic hikes for your next tour or suggest hiking options for another day of your vacation
Rincon
- 30m
Subi Rincon is a viewpoint perched above the oldest village in the Dutch Antilles, set to celebrate its 500th anniversary in 2027. The name “Subi,” meaning “above,” reflects its elevated position. This village embodies the authentic spirit of Bonaire, distinct from Dutch influence, showcasing a vibrant, welcoming community filled with color and friendliness. Here, goats and donkeys roam freely, offering opportunities to enjoy local food and beverages. Just a five-minute drive from the village, Subi Rincon sits about 60 meters above the village, providing a stunning observation point. We will be among the few, if not the only, visitors here in total tranquility, as Manny’s guides prefer to keep the area peaceful and avoid driving up crowds. I also share the story of how the Arawak Indians arrived peacefully on the island and built their lives until the Spaniards arrived, bringing slavery and upheaval.
Boka Onima
- 30m
At the Onima Indian Inscriptions, I will take you to the very spot where the Spaniards first landed on Bonaire. We will discuss the ocean’s immense power and how the elders, known as "the Imakan," guided their people using the wisdom of their ancestors, along with their knowledge of the stars, plants, and animals. I’ll help you experience the profound energy of this sacred place, a link to our ancestors. The Arawak Indians, the original inhabitants of Bonaire, were known for their peaceful culture and craftsmanship. Evidence of their presence, including an ancient inscription carved over 3,000 years ago, highlights their deep connection to the island and its rich history.
Seru Largu
- 15m
Our final stop is Seru Largo, meaning "high mountain," a scenic lookout offering breathtaking views of Bonaire’s south side. From here, we can see the salt ponds, mangroves, and the windsurfing bay. You’ll also get a clear view of Kleine Bonaire, our sister island dedicated to nature lovers and scuba divers. Nearby, there's a local farm called Knuknu, which means “farmhouse,” where you might spot a few donkeys and horses. If time permits, we can visit this charming spot. From this vantage point, you’ll enjoy a stunning panorama of Kleine Bonaire, the island once owned by Bella Fonte, which inspired the song "My Island in the Sun."
Additionally, if desired, we can extend the tour to include a trip to the south, where you can enjoy lunch and cool off at Jibe City, swimming in its knee-deep waters.
