Know before you book

  • Children weighing less than 40 pounds (18 kg) or aged 4 or younger must ride in a child seat. Children between the ages of 5 and 8 who weigh between 40 and 49 pounds (18–22 kg) must ride in a booster seat. Child and booster seats are available for additional fee.

Leave your Boston pickup location and ride south in comfort to reach the rocky shores of Rhode Island. Arrive in Newport and embark on an intriguing walking tour in town, listening to stories about the city’s past. Meander between beautiful examples of colonial-era architecture and snap photos of elegant sailboats, bobbing in the harbor.

Spend the afternoon wandering through the unbelievably lavish homes of the area’s former residents. Start at the Breakers, where Cornelius Vanderbilt II and his family spent their summers. Spread out over 13 acres (5 ha), this remarkable residence has over 70 rooms filled with opulent décor. Take a look inside before heading to your next stop.

Just a block away, explore the architectural landmark that is the Marble House. It was built in 1892 by William Vanderbilt as a 39th Birthday present for his wife Alva Vanderbilt. It's temple front resembles that of the White House. Enjoy some time for lunch and shopping or fill your afternoon at sites such as The International Tennis Hall of Fame or the Naval War College before heading back to Boston.
