A fascinating tour with views of magnificent mountains, beautiful valleys, and a paradisiacal lagoon of turquoise waters to the skirts of a snowy peak, the tour of Lake Humantay is specially designed for nature lovers who have busy schedules and cannot stay for more than a day but want to explore Andean landscapes with incredible flora and fauna. The turquoise waters of Lake Humantay lay calm at the base of the glacier of the same name, near one of the most important mountains for the Andean world, the snowy Salkantay.
The adventure starts with an early pickup from your hotel in Cusco and a two-hours long ride to the Mollepata village situated in the valley of the Apurimac River. Once we arrive to Mollepata, we will have a delicious breakfast and learn more about the experiences, customs, and the history of this small village. We will continue our journey by taking an hour and thirty minutes drive to Soraypampa (3900 masl), the perfect place to enjoy the splendor of the snow-capped Salkantay.
From here, we will trek through one hour and forty minutes to the turquoise Humantay lagoon situated at 4200 masl (13 779 feet a.s.l) where we will explore the skirts of the snowy Humantay. The turquoise waters of Lake Humantay will show you why this is one of the most exceptional places in the Cusco region of Peru. After exploring the whole area and capturing unforgettable pictures, we will return to Mollepata for lunch. After the tour, we will drop you off at a common centrally located point close to Cusco main square.
