Discover Oak Alley Plantation or Laura Plantation along the legendary River Road for a look at the lingering impact of slave labor. Both Louisiana plantations invite you to step back in time and hear stories of families divided by race and class during the Antebellum South in the United States.

Oak Alley Plantation Famous for its alleyway framed by 28 evenly spaced live oak trees, believed to be older than the homestead itself, Oak Alley Plantation is anchored by a Greek Revival-style manor house that was built with slave labor in the 1830s. Learn how the plantation's owners rode the sugarcane boom to preeminence in the region, and how a slave who resided on the plantation pioneered the Centennial Variety of pecans.

Laura, a Creole Plantation Along with the restored French Creole design of this plantation's manor house, Laura Plantation is memorable for its number of surviving outbuildings, including 6 former slave cabins. Learn about the writings of Laura Locoul, who provided an eyewitness account of plantation life, as well as the stories of Br'er Rabbit, which local scholar Alcée Fortier learned from freedmen here following the Civil War.

The tour of Oak Alley was great, very educational. Our pick up driver KP?? was exceptional, giving info on the way. The driver , Jamie, who took us to the plantation and again back to our hotel was very disappointing. Did not say hello or anything else and not very patient when dropping us off.
