What you can expect
Hola! My name is Diego, as a native Guadalajaran, I'm passionate about sharing my city's hidden gems and iconic sights. I'll take you beyond the tourist spots to discover the city's secret treasures, stunning architecture, and delicious flavors – all through a local's lens.
Exploring the old and modern sides of the city you will embark on a journey through time and discover Guadalajara's true essence.
With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Guadalajara, I'll bring a deep understanding of the city’s cultural landscape.
As part of the tour you will:
• Learn about the history and culture of the city with a local guide
• Savor the best of Guadalajara's culinary treasures at local markets and hidden shops (food and drinks not included)
• Enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of Latin America's largest indoor market, Mercado Libertad
• Tour Guadalajara while learning about the legacy of religious conflicts and colonialism
• Explore Colonia Americana, a neighborhood founded by American industrialists in 1895, nowadays the city's hipster/trendy barrio. Discover the cultural complexities arising from the economic and religious influence of the U.S. in Mexico
In a fun and relaxed 3-hour walk you'll see 10+ of Guadalajara's fundamental landmarks, including:
• Mercado Libertad (the largest indoor market in Latin America)
• The Cathedral
• The city square and the main plazas
• The government buildings
• Templo Expiatorio
• Colonia Americana
• Degollado Theater
• Hospicio Cabañas (closed on Mondays)
• . . . and more!
Stay energized with plenty of opportunities to grab a bite and a coffee along the way.
By the end of our adventure I promise you'll have gained a richer understanding of Guadalajara and Mexico, from their complex colonial past to their vibrant present.
