Know before you book

  • Book at least 20 days in advance to allow the tour operator sufficient time to obtain your Tibet Permit. If you are flying to Lhasa, the original permits will be sent by express delivery to a hotel or another address in one of China’s cities. If you are taking the train to Lhasa, scanned copies of the permits will be sent to you via email.
  • Travelers are required to provide photocopies of their passport and China visa at the time of booking.
  • If your China visa is not an 'L' tourist visa, then the supplementary letters/document from your sponsored organization is required as well, please contact us for more details
  • If you enter Tibet from Kathmandu, you have to get your GROUP VISA in the Chinese embassy of Kathmandu, as the individual visa is invalid. We will help you to obtain your group China visa in Kathmandu, please just send us your passport copies, you will also need to prepare a passport photo in advance. Our local representative will collect your original passport upon your arrival at Kathmandu, please kindly note that the Group Visa application requires a minimum of 3 working days to obtain.
  • As the average altitude of this tour is over 11,975 feet (3,600 meters), it's common for everyone to have some symptoms of the high altitude. We encourage the travelers to discuss the trip with the doctors prior to travel

Lhasa
Arrive in Lhasa by flight or train, and your Tibetan guide will greet you outside the airport or train station, then transfer you to your hotel in the downtown area. Note: * Free train station pick-up service is available throughout the day. * Free Airport Pick-up: We offer four scheduled arrival pick-up shuttles from the airport to Lhasa city at 10:00 AM, 1:30 PM, 4:00 PM, and 6:30 PM.
Day 2: Lhasa Monasteries Day - Excursion to Drepung & Sera Monasteries

Drepung Monastery (Zhebang Si)

Drepung Monastery is a Gelugpa (Yellow Hat) sect monastic college, which was once the world's largest monastery, historically housing 7,700 monks. It also served as the seat of the Government prior to the Potala Palace.
Sera Monastery

Sera Monastery is renowned for its Buddhist philosophical debate practice (3-5pm available from Mon. to Sat.) The clapping sounds and aggressive expressions of the monks during these debates are well worth seeing. Additionally, the sand mandala inside the chapel is a significant attraction.

In the morning start your Lhasa city highlight tour to visit Potala Palace. It is most renowned as the residence of the lineage of Dalai Lamas (Avalokiteshvara), though the massive structure contains a small world within itself. It was first built by 33rd ruler of his dynasty, King Songtsen Gangpo in the 7th century, but still is in surprisingly good repair because of continual rejuvenation projects.
