Description

Deep gorges, ochre-colored rock formations, and the distant ribbon of the winding Colorado River—the Grand Canyon is one of the world's most marvelous wonders. Take in the scenery on the historic Grand Canyon Railway on your way up to the Grand Canyon. Immediately upon arrival, be astounded by your first beautiful view, with many more through-out the day.

Begin your tour with a picturesque ride by the Ponderosa pines of Flagstaff and the dormant volcanoes of the San Francisco Peaks. In Williams, you will climb aboard the historic Grand Canyon Railway for your ONE-WAY train ride to the Grand Canyon, traveling back in time during a 65-mile (105-km) journey complete with cowboys and live music. Enjoy a boxed lunch once disembarking just steps from the South Rim.

Spend some free time exploring park buildings like the Hopi House and Grand Canyon Village before meeting your experienced guide for a narrated excursion in a comfortable touring van, stopping at various outlooks along the South and East Rim, glimpsing the mighty Colorado far below you as you take in some of the canyon's deepest and widest points for stunning desert panorama views.

Your return journey takes you along the western edge of the Painted Desert and the Little Colorado River Gorge. Make a brief stop to scope out authentic Native American souvenirs at the Navajo Reservation before you head back to Flagstaff.

Please Note: Beginning January 1st, 2020, lunch is no longer included in price.

If I had it to do over again, I'd skip the train and just book a full day tour. The train isn't anything extraordinary.

I was a little disappointed with the train ride. I thought we would see "more" of the Grand Canyon, opposed to the landscape leading up to the National park which is flat, and we did not see many animals, etc. We saw more animals on the tour bus than the train ride to the Grand Canyon. Amber Rose, our train conductor, (if that is the right terminology) was very animated and a great pleasure to ride the 2 1/2 hours to the Grand Canyon. She kept everyone entertained. I just expected that we would have more viewing time of the Grand Canyon. Sheldon our tour guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our shuttle tour of the Grand Canyon, and all the observation points he took us to for picture taking, and explanations of different views from each stop. The size of the tour group very pleasant, and it allowed us to have more time at each viewing spot. We were offered water on an ongoing basis due to the extreme temps.
