Activity itinerary

Palacio Alvarado

We will visit the great Alvarado Palace, converted into a museum and cultural center, it was the home of Pedro Alvarado, owner of the rich mine "La Palmilla". The building was built according to the European fashion of the early 20th century. Its furniture was brought from Europe, the frescoes that decorate the walls of the central courtyard allow to reconstruct the opulent life that could be enjoyed when a good grain was found. In each of the rooms you can see utensils, furniture, dishes, artifacts and facilities that reveal the daily life of its inhabitants. Throughout the year it is used as a cultural venue.
Catedral de Parral (Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe)
  • 1h
The Cathedral of Parral is a modern building which stands out for its two rectangular towers topped by a triple window on each side. Above the atrium there is a large circular stained glass window and on a bridge that joins the towers there is a sculpture that represents the appearance of the Virgin of Guadalupe to Saint Juan Diego. It was a unique stone construction around the middle of the 20th century. The original was built in 1680 and, in 1902, it was demolished to build a new building that also had to be demolished as a result of the damage caused by the catastrophic flood of 1944. This is how the current temple began to be built as of March 1, 1946.
Museo Mina la Prieta
  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
A black silver stone found in 1631 by Ensign Juan Rangel de Biezma immediately resulted in the founding of a city, the opening of a very rich mine and the birth of a legend that ensures that the military man actually saw a girl on the hill A very beautiful brunette with whom he fell in love and who for that reason named the mine as La Negrita, which would later lead to La Prieta. The site was active for 345 years until the water that ran over the stones made its exploitation impossible. Today, the mine has been turned into a museum that aims to publicize the mining activity that generated the boom in the region during colonial times. During the visit, it is possible to obtain information about the extraction techniques of the minerals and go back in time to understand what life was like for the people who worked there.
Museo Pancho Villa
  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
We will visit the Francisco Villa museum, which in 2000 was remodeled to use its two levels as a museum. In this museum the latest events in the eventful life of Francisco Villa are eternalized, through original historical objects and photographs. The two-story house in front of the place where the events occurred –on Gabino Barreda Street– became the Francisco Villa Museum. There the events that culminated in his death are narrated and objects related to the crime, photos and other documents are exhibited. Every year, on July 20, in that same place a re-enactment of this historical event is held.
