Embark on a full day of sightseeing and winetasting on this journey through the Chilean capital and the Concha y Toro winery. Explore Santiago's historic center accompanied by an expert guide, and then get the chance to taste superb Latin American wines.
Start your day with pickup from your hotel. Your guide takes you into Santiago's historic district, first visiting Santa Lucia Hill, a remnant of a 15-million-year-old volcano from which you can take in views of the entire city. Then travel to the La Moneda Palace—a stately building opened in 1805 that acts as the seat of government—and the impressive Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, a magnificent church that is the reputed burial place of Saint James the Great. Before departing the city, also check out the impressive main square of Plaza de Armas and the National History Museum of Chile, housed in the centuries-old Palacio de la Real Audencia de Santiago.
Following your trip through Santiago and a break for lunch on your own, head to the vineyards of Concha y Toro. The prestigious and enormous estate is spread throughout Chile's major wine regions, including Maipo and Casablanca, and is the world's largest producer of wines from Latin America. Go on a tour of the winery, which was founded in 1883, and walk through the living history of the place with a glass of wine in hand. After the tour, try samples of their full-bodied cabernet sauvignon or a sweet semillon before heading back to your hotel.
