What you can expect
Discover one of the most important archaeological circuits in Ayacucho on an excursion that combines nature, history, and the heritage of the Inca Empire. Along the way, you'll visit impressive monuments, high Andean landscapes, and one of Peru's most iconic plant species.
The first stop will be in the community of Manallasaq, where you can see the stands of Puya raimondii, considered the largest plant in the Andes and a unique species that blooms only once during its long life. This extraordinary natural show makes the area one of the best places to appreciate this iconic species.
The tour continues to the archaeological complex of Intihuatana, located next to the Pumacocha Lagoon. This important ceremonial center stands out for its perfectly preserved stone constructions and for the unique landscape where the lagoon takes the shape of a puma, a figure of great symbolism within the Andean worldview. During the visit, you'll see the Torreón del Inca, the Intihuatana or sundial, the Baños del Inca, and the ancient Aclla Wasi, spaces that show the high level of development achieved by Inca engineering and architecture.
The excursion ends in Vilcashuamán, one of the most important cities in Tahuantinsuyo, built as the administrative and ceremonial center of the empire. Here you'll visit Plaza Pachacútec, the Temple of the Sun and Moon, the imposing Ushno – a ceremonial pyramid used for official acts and rituals – and the enigmatic Piedra del Vaticinio, places that preserve the grandeur of the Inca civilization.
Located more than 3,400 meters above sea level, this tour offers a perfect combination of archaeological heritage, high Andean landscapes, and nature, making it an ideal experience for those who want to explore one of the most fascinating historical routes in Ayacucho.
