I took the trip at the beginning of October. The bus picked me up from my accommodation in Te Anau and each part of the trip flowed well. It was raining very hard when the day started, and snowed when the bus reached the top of the Wilmot Pass before going down into Deep Cove to board the next bus. The drivers put on chains and drove very slowly down. The bonus was we saw so many stunning waterfalls and travelled in a winter wonderland of snow all the way back to Te Anau. The boat trip was mostly very calm and the boat cruised slowly past amazing waterfalls and mountains and a guide to answer questions. A wonderful day in the fresh air with free cups of tea and coffee.

A must do. The weather was not the best in the morning but gave the lake and sounds a mysterious feeling. The rain stopped and clouds cleared. Oh my goodness- what a stunning change it made. Took so many photos that I’m struggling to choose the best ones! The crew were the most knowledgeable and friendliest that we have experienced when doing an activity like this. Thank you all. Glad we made the effort
