The intense colors of the water, combined with red, orange and rust-colored mineral formations, create an almost surreal scenery shaped by the area’s mining past. Explore the former mining landscape, discover fascinating colors and rock formations, and enjoy plenty of time for photos. See how nature is slowly transforming this once-industrial area into one of the island’s most extraordinary Lost Places. A fascinating combination of nature, mining history and spectacular colors that looks very different from the Cyprus most visitors know.

Mitsero

  • 30m
Green Lake – Mitsero Discover another extraordinary side of Cyprus’ former mining landscape at the Green Lake near Mitsero. Its striking green water contrasts dramatically with the surrounding mineral-rich rocks and rugged terrain, creating scenery that feels almost otherworldly. Explore the colorful landscape, discover unusual rock formations and see how mining history and nature have created a place unlike the Cyprus most visitors expect. Kokkinogia Mine Step into Cyprus’ forgotten mining past at the abandoned Kokkinogia Mine. Discover a fascinating Lost Place where old mining structures, machinery and industrial remains still tell the story of the area’s former copper-mining activity. Explore the unusual landscape with its mineral-rich rocks, striking colors and traces left behind by decades of mining. Nature is slowly reclaiming the site, creating a fascinating contrast between industrial history and the surrounding landscape. Take time to explore and photograph one of Cyprus’ lesser-known Lost Places, far away from the island’s typical tourist attractions.

Mathiatis

Mathiatis – Sha Mine Discover the impressive former Sha Mine near Mathiatis, where Cyprus’ long copper-mining history has left behind a dramatic and colorful landscape. Look across the former mining area and discover striking layers of red, orange, yellow and earthy mineral colors in the exposed rock.
