Description

Take to the mighty Colorado River with a rafting tour along one of the waterway's most spectacular stretches. From the colorful gorges of Glen Canyon to historic Lee's Ferry, you get an up-close look at the natural wonders and memorable sites that make this area shine.

The adventure begins with a drive up scenic Oak Creek Canyon to the tall pine forests around Flagstaff. Marvel at the San Francisco Peaks on the way to the Navajo Nation. A trip along the Echo Cliffs brings you to the town of Page and scenic Lake Powell, where you follow a 2-mile-long (3.2-km) tunnel to the base of the massive Glen Canyon Dam.

Once you board the large inflatable rafts, specifically designed for a smooth trip on the water, your guides lead you out along the river under the massive cliffs towering more than 1,000 feet (300 m) above. Float around Horseshoe Bend, stop to explore ancient Native American petroglyphs, and enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of the river.

The rafts dock at Lee's Ferry, the famed river crossing used by many pioneers who came to settle in the Arizona territory. Cabins inhabited by early settlers still stand at the nearby junction of the Colorado and Paria Rivers, and you have time to get some photos before the driving back.
