What you can expect
Situated a short distance away from the picturesque, cobbled town of Kelso in the Scottish Borders, lies the romantic Floors Castle, the centrepiece of the beautiful Roxburghe Estate since it was constructed over 300 years ago for the 1st Duke of Roxburghe. This magnificent edifice is a treasury of sumptuous tapestries, art, porcelain and 18th century French furniture, set in extensive parkland and gardens overlooking the majestic River Tweed.
Explore Floors Castle, the largest inhabited Castle in Scotland and residence of the 11th Duke & Duchess of Roxburghe, to witness the evolving story of a beloved family home upon which each generation has left its mark. Discover the rich history of the Roxburghe family and their role in Scotland’s story encapsulated within the stunning Floors Castle, itself the product of some of the nation’s finest architects. From the Act of Union to the Grand Tour, American heiresses, Royal visits and prize homebred racehorses, there really is something for everyone.
Considered by many to be the highlight of their visit, the 4 acre Walled Garden at Floors Castle combine one of the finest Victorian Kitchen Gardens in a spectacular Walled Garden with a formal Millennium Garden which features a French-style parterre and a charming summerhouse known as “Queen’s House” after Queen Victoria visited for tea here in 1867.
Within the Walled Garden, our fully licensed Terrace Café offers delicious lunches and afternoon tea. Open all year round with a changing seasonal menu using Estate & local produce.
Shop the shelves at The Apple Shed, a great place to find gifts, souvenirs, kitchenware and homeware, as well as delicious food from Floors Castle and other local producers and suppliers.
Floors Castle is located only one hour drive South of Edinburgh, and one hour drive North of Newcastle.
