What you can expect

Embark on an adventure as you explore the oft-overlooked southern side of Madeira on an exciting 4x4 expedition. Discover charming fishing villages tucked along the coastline and breathtaking inland landscapes, featuring towering mountains, deep valleys, and expansive plateaus stretching to the horizon.

From your accommodation in the southeast corner of the island, climb aboard your 4x4 and head west to an area bypassed by many tours. First, ascend to Paul de Serra, a plateau offering sweeping views from nearly 5,000 feet (1,500 m) above sea level. Here, lush green valleys wind through rugged mountains, giving you a perfect glimpse of the island’s diverse geography.

Continue your journey down to the coast near Ponta do Pargo, the island’s westernmost point, where the ocean crashes against steep cliffs. Take in the invigorating sea air as you marvel at the dramatic landscape. After lunch, take a stroll along coastal paths, discovering quiet fishing villages hidden away from the main roads.

In Calheta, enjoy views of a picturesque bay, where waves gently kiss the beach’s shore, before heading back to your accommodation.
