What you can expect
Wander into a world of mystery surrounded by exotic sea animals with a visit to the Audubon Aquarium. With exhibits that offer up-close looks at local wildlife and exotic animals alike, the aquarium puts you in the middle of a vibrant underwater scene.
Begin by walking through a 30-foot (9.1-m) underwater tunnel surrounded by colorful underwater creatures in the 4,200-square-foot (390-sq-m) Great Maya Reef, keeping your eyes peeled for aquarium divers hand-feeding the rays.
In the Gulf of Mexico exhibit—gaze at gigantic sharks, tarpon, and cow-nose rays. Look for sea turtles, part of the onsite rehabilitation program, and learn about the Audobon Aquarium's efforts to conserve and protect marine environments. After perusing the homes of white alligators and more of New Orleans' native sea creatures, rest your feet with a show in the theater or grab a bite to eat at the onsite cafe.
