Enjoy an authentic experience in the Apuan Alps with a loop trek that combines nature, history and local culture. We will set off from the charming medieval village of Isola Santa, overlooking a beautiful emerald-colored lake, and then follow ancient trails used for centuries by shepherds and mountain dwellers.
Along the route, we will reach Colle di Favilla, a small hamlet nestled in the woods that still retains the charm of ancient mountain communities, with stone houses, terraces and evidence of rural life. The guide will share interesting facts, traditions and stories related to this unique area.
We will then continue to Puntato, one of the most fascinating mountain pastures in the Apuan Alps, surrounded by the imposing peaks of Pania della Croce, Mount Corchia and Mount Freddone. Here, the landscape opens up to green pastures, ancient mule tracks and stunning vistas that offer one of the most iconic views in the entire Apuan Alps Regional Park.
We will make a pleasant stop at the distinctive Rifugio Il Robbio, where you can enjoy a snack of typical local products (optional and not included), before taking the return trail through woods, old disused quarries and the Turrite Secca valley.
The route is approximately 9 km long with 650 meters of uphill elevation gain and is suitable for anyone who is accustomed to walking. You will hike at a leisurely pace, with numerous stops dedicated to explanations about the nature, geology and history of the area.
Accompanied by a Tuscany Region-certified Environmental Hiking Guide, you will discover an authentic side of the Apuan Alps, away from the most popular tourist routes and rich in views, history and traditions.
