Description

Get to know the spiritual center of Dublin with a look at 1,000 years' worth of history within the halls of Christ Church Cathedral. With access to the exquisite nave and the biggest cathedral crypt in Ireland, you get a terrific look at the city's oldest working structure.

As soon as you step in from the streets of central Dublin, you're surrounded with history that goes back to the 11th century. You can learn about the venerable choir and the 19 cathedral bells as you admire the heritage on display amid the high Gothic arches.

Beneath the main halls, you can visit the restored 12th-century crypt, where the Treasures of Christ Church exhibition offers a showcase of the cathedral's role as a focal point of worship and Irish national heritage. See manuscripts and artifacts like the royal plate presented by William III after his victory at the Battle of the Boyne, or the tabernacle and candlesticks from its last days as a Catholic sanctuary under James II, to see how the background of the church reflects the story of Ireland itself.
