Your safari guide will be there to welcome you on arrival at Maun Airport. The exact departure time from Maun Airport will be advised closer to the time, as this depends on the commercial airlines flight schedules. We expect to leave Maun and begin our journey around lunchtime where we head to Moremi Game Reserve, stopping for a picnic lunch en-route, and arriving at our campsite in time for sundowners.

Today we explore the surrounding wilderness on game drives during the day. The Moremi Game Reserve forms part of the unique ecosystem called the Okavango Delta and Moremi covers up to one third of the Okavango. The total area of the Okavango covers up to 18 000 square kilometres of which the Moremi Game Reserve is 5000 square kilometre. This makes for spectacular game viewing and bird watching, including all major naturally occurring herbivore and carnivore species in the region, and over 400 species of birds, many migratory and some endangered. Both Black and White Rhino have recently been re-introduced, now making the reserve a ‘Big Five’ destination.

The Khwai Concession is an 1800km (180 000 hectare) area which is situated in the north eastern Okavango next to the Moremi Game Reserve. It was formed by the local Khwai villagers and is managed by the Khwai Development Trust. The area used to be a hunting concession, but is now actively managed as a conservation area. Upon arrival, we will have some quality time to relax before enjoying an introductory game drive in Khwai.

We wake up well in time and enjoy our breakfast; the chef camp hand will be left in the camping site to prepare our meals and tents. We drive in the Khwai Concession area which is a good area to see Roan and Sable Antelope which are relatively rare. You might see Kudu, Tsessebe, Wildebeest and Zebra. Huge herds of migrating Elephants enjoy the Mopane woodlands of the interior of the Khwai area. There are fairly stable populations of large predators such as Lion, Spotted Hyena and African Wild Dogs found here and if you are lucky, you may also spot Leopards. After the game drive we drive back to the camping site where we will find our lunch ready. We then enjoy our lunch under the shade of the tent or tree. We may see bird spices like Verreaux's Eagle Owl, Senegal Coucals and Long Toed Lapwings. After our lunch we rest in our tents, later in the evening we will go for a game drive. Dinner will be prepared as well as hot water for bathing.

Following an early breakfast we pack camp and continue with our game drives and later go to the Khwai River which forms a boundary between the reserve and the community area. Here, you will also enjoy a 2 hour Mokoro Trip exploring the water ways of Khwai which is the most eastern reach of the Okavango river system.

As you continue Your search for wildlife, you will traverse the drier region of Savuti where bull elephant dot the plains. Savuti’s spectacular landscapes are covered with lush vegetation and marshlands, where an abundance of wildlife freely roam. The highlights of Savuti includes the majestic zebra migration from the northern sections of Botswana, the rocky outcrops of the Gubatsa Hills, a myriad of birds and incredible wildlife.

Experience the contrasts of Botswana's wilderness on this fascinating safari into the famous Savuti region of the Chobe National Park. The SavutI is famous for its river that suddenly stopped flowing due to shifts in the Earth's crust. From 2008 the river has flowed which has made the desert landscape lush once more. You should see several prides of Lion, Black-backed Jackal, Bat-eared Foxes, Tsessebe, Kudu, Impala, Giraffe and Ostriches on your game drives. During the summer months thousands of Zebra and other antelope species migrate to the area offering a feast for the local predators. Continue to search for more wildlife in the Savuti area. Savuti is tucked away within the spectacular Chobe National Park in Botswana, and stretches all along the northern boundaries of the park to the Linyanti River.

Your next destination will be Chobe National Park. The Park is Botswana’s first national park declared in 1967 covering around 11700 square kilometers. Famous as the elephant capital of Africa, the park derived its name from the Chobe River and located on the northern part of Botswana near Zambia, Zimbabwe and Namibia. It has one of the largest concentrations of African elephants. General game viewing and birdlife are superb all year around with the elephant, buffalo and zebra masses being seasonally migratory based on accessibility to water and food.
