After being picked up from your hotel or location in the local area, you will enter Yala National Park to explore its light forests, scrubs, grasslands, lagoons, and the magnificent range of animals that call this sanctuary home. With your 4WD Jeep and expert guide, the “Golden Hours” of the day are used to maximize leopard spotting — either the first two hours after sunrise or the last two hours before sunset.
Throughout the safari, you will search for the world’s most concentrated population of leopards, along with sloth bears, elephants, water buffalo, and hundreds of bird species. Your knowledgeable driver and guide will expertly navigate the vast tracks and hidden corners of the park to give you the best wildlife encounters possible.
Morning Safari (7 Hours): Begins with hotel pick-up at 4:00–5:00 AM to catch the sunrise as the park gates open at 6:00 AM. This extended experience continues until around 12:00 PM.
Afternoon Safari (5 Hours): Starts with hotel pick-up around 2:00 PM, allowing you to enjoy the cooler part of the day until the park closes at sunset (6:00 PM).
Full Day Safari (12 Hours): Combines both sessions, offering the most comprehensive exploration of Yala with breakfast and lunch included.
Situated on Sri Lanka’s southeast coast and bordering the panoramic Indian Ocean, Yala is home to 44 species of mammals and 215 species of birds. Leopards, elephants, sloth bears, jackals, crocodiles, sambars, spotted deer, and peacocks are just some of the incredible wildlife you may encounter.
