Do you already know Osnabrück's oldest cemetery, dating from 1808? Have you already explored the historic Gertrudenberg? Do you know what the underground caves there are all about? No? – Then come along on the evening tour from the Hase Cemetery to the Vitischanze.
Join the Osnabrück gravedigger on an evening historical walking tour and discover lesser-known chapters of Osnabrück's urban history. Learn all about the city's oldest cemetery, about past burial customs and how death and crime were dealt with in centuries gone by. The gravedigger will take you to the scenes of historical criminal cases and tell you about documented cases that actually took place in Osnabrück – from thefts and fraud to serious crimes.
On this tour, the history of the cemetery is combined with legal, judicial and criminal history, and you will gain insights into a time when the concepts of law, punishment, death and burial were markedly different from what they are today.
