The event was known all over the Philippines. The Sandugo was a blood compact, performed on the Island of Bohol. It is an annual celebration, a yearly historical event that takes place every month of July. Boholanos are very devoted to every Catholic Church and the Baclayon Church is one of the proofs to the Boholano’s devotion to their faith. The church complex is strategically located facing the sea and originally has defensive stone walls around. The Baclayon Church was declared as a National Cultural Treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines in 2010.
The altar of the church is ornately designed three retables, one retablo mayor and the two other side altars. The church symbolizes the great devotion of Boholanos and faith to God.
Bilar Man-Made Forest

The best way to enjoy your vacation is to see the natural creation by God. The Bohol Man-Made is a mahogany forest stretching in a 2km stretch of densely planted with Mahogany trees located on the border of Bilar and Loboc towns.
Before and after reaching the man-made forest, there are also naturally grown forests of Loboc and Bilar with a thick kaleidoscope of green foliage, different kinds of trees and giant ferns lining the road. You will immediately notice that you are inside the forest as soon as you read the road surrounded by beautiful trees.
This place is very peaceful, meditative, and you feel chilly, even during that hot summer season days. People called it the “dark-side” of Bohol because of how dark it is when you enter the place. It was such a quiet and dark place compare to an ordinary place. You can also feel the cold wind that will surely touch your skin.
Chocolate Hills Natural Monument
1h
Admission ticket included
Chocolate Hills in Bohol is a famed tourist attraction in the Philippines which continues to draw attention for its unique and majestic characteristics.
There are more than 1,000 symmetrical mounds, conical and dome-shaped that most people liken them to Hershey’s Kisses. It is called the Chocolate Hills not because it’s made of chocolate but because of its color.
In the rainy season, the grass blanketing the hills gives them a soft and lush appearance. While in the summer, the vegetation dies off and turns to a chocolatey brown hue, giving them their name.
Tarsier Conservation Area
1h
Admission ticket included
On the island of Bohol in the Philippines, it won't be long before you're bombarded with images and paraphernalia featuring the cute "Gizmo" like creature the tarsier (pronounced tarj-e-ar).
These tiny creatures are the world's oldest living primates. Nocturnal, by day at the Tarsier Sanctuary, you'll find them attached to a branch, lazily eyeing off curious tourists.
They are the only primate known to eat live prey. They can also turn their heads nearly 360 degrees.
According to a factsheet at the sanctuary, If kept in captivity, so depressed are tarsiers by the idea of a life in captivity, they will commit suicide by holding their breath or banging their head until they pass out, rather than face a life stuck in a cage.
Until the Tarsier sanctuary was opened, many tarsiers died in captivity so curious tourists could gawk at them in tiny cages. Thankfully, the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary takes their role of conservation seriously and with pride.
Loboc River Cruise
2h
Admission ticket included
Bohol’s Countryside Tour boasts of the top tourist spots on the island. One of the most popular is hands down the Loboc River Cruise, where you get to enjoy a lunch buffet on board a floating restaurant along the waters of this calm and serene body of water.
The Loboc River is found in the town of Loboc, about 24 kilometers from the capital city of Tagbilaran. The cruise usually lasts for about an hour, and starts at the Loay Bridge or mouth of the river, then cruises down the stream until you reach Busay Falls, where the boat turns back to return to the docking station. The schedule for the lunch buffet is from 11 am to 2 pm but once you get on the boat, you can start munching on the food.
One boat or floating restaurant can accommodate a total of 50 to 60 people, so there might be some waiting time before the river cruise starts if there are only a few of you.
Bohol Habitat Conservation Center
30m
Admission ticket included
Our next stop was the Simply Butterflies Conservation Center which houses a butterfly garden, a restaurant and more. It is Bohol’s first butterfly livelihood breeding program aiming to protect the butterfly population through breeding and releasing and plant research.
