This is not a sightseeing tour. Aone Farm is a small community farm in Aone, a quiet mountain village in western Sagamihara, about 70 minutes from central Tokyo. Local Japanese members grow vegetables, rice and fruit here together, and you join them for the day as part of the team.
Start with about one hour of real field work. Depending on the season, you may harvest vegetables, plant seedlings, pull weeds or pick plums. Our members will show you how, and no experience is needed.
Next, bring the harvest to the kitchen and cook lunch together. You don't just eat here, you make the meal with your own hands: simple seasonal Japanese home cooking with what you picked that morning. If you like, you can also cook a dish from your home country and share it with everyone. Then sit down on the tatami and enjoy lunch with the local members.
After lunch, take our goats for a walk through the village, look out over the rice terraces and mountains, and relax in the slow pace of the Japanese countryside. It's a rare chance to see everyday rural life and make friends with locals.
The meeting point is the Aone Community Center in Sagamihara. If you need it, we offer a free pickup from JR Tachikawa Station South Exit on request, at no extra cost.
