Embark on an unforgettable private SUV adventure from Kutaisi to discover the untouched landscapes, hidden wonders, and rich history of the Racha and Lechkhumi regions. Travelling in a comfortable 4x4 vehicle allows us to effortlessly navigate the scenic mountain serpentines and reach spectacular viewpoints that standard tour buses simply cannot access. This carefully curated day trip offers the perfect balance of wild nature, authentic culture, and relaxing panoramas.
Our journey begins with a drive through the lush Alpana Gorge, heading straight toward the majestic Sairme Pillars. Here, you will take a scenic walk through a beautiful forest trail to witness these breathtaking, monolithic limestone columns rising dramatically above the green canopy. After capturing incredible photos of this natural wonder, we will move deeper into Lechkhumi to see the wild, rugged beauty of the Lajanuri Reservoir, where massive cliffs frame the emerald waters.
Next, we ascend to the historic village of Lailashi to visit its legendary “Okroni Pool”—a secret open-air pavilion filled with fresh mountain spring water, offering an unmissable panoramic view over the valleys below. It is the perfect spot to refresh and take in the crisp mountain air.
In the afternoon, we cross into the Racha region. We will stop for a delicious local lunch (not included) where you can taste authentic Racha ham and the famous Khvanchkara wine. Afterward, we visit the 11th-century Nikortsminda Cathedral, a masterpiece of medieval Georgian architecture renowned for its uniquely detailed stone carvings and stunning interior frescoes.
As the day winds down, we will relax by the serene shores of Shaori Lake, surrounded by picturesque pine forests. Our final stop brings us to the famous Nakerala Pass for a panoramic view of the Tskhra jvari area. Without the need for a exhausting climb, you will enjoy sweeping, epic views over the Imereti plains and Tkibuli reservoir, often blanketed in a magical sea of clouds. We return to Kutaisi in the evening with unforgettable memories of Georgia's hidden highlands.
