Starting from the city center of Catania, a professional naturalistic guide will pick you up in Catania (where all the excursions start from) close to your hotel or in a place we will agree, around 8:30 a.m.
The excursion consists of 5 – 6 hours of trekking around the most interesting places on the North-Eastern slope of Etna, scene of the last impressive eruption: Piano Provenzana or to the Serracozzo cave (overlooking the Bove Valley).
You might take different naturalistic paths with, among other things, a scheduled circumnavigation of a button-like row of craters, lava-flowing caves and native plants.
During the excursions you will reach a maximum altitude of 2000 meters (area of expertise of our guides).
The tour is also designed for those who aren’t used to trekking but in good shape. You will get the chance to stop, but this path is pretty simple due to the very few obstacles.
There will be also a lunch break, a tasty and natural packed lunch (sandwiches).
The journey can endure little variations due to the needs of the group and/or weather conditions.
You'll be back in Catania at around 6.00/6.30 p.m. You will be dropped off in the same place where you have been picked up. (Unless special requests in advance)
LANGUAGES:
The excursion will take place in Italian, English.
RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:
You need a mountain jacket and trekking shoes, with thick socks. If you don’t have the proper shoes, the guide can decide you cannot take part to the excursion. If you haven’t got the right type of shoes, please let us know and they will be provided. You will have also to bring a small bottle of water to use during the trek, as well as a backpack where to bring the packed lunch we will give you at the beginning of the trekking.
