Tour starts with afternoon departure of the Golden circle, which is perfect for those who would like to sleep in a little bit or even those arriving to Iceland in the early morning flights. After the Golden Circle tour you arrive back in Reykjavik and will have a quick break to grab dinner before being picked up by our Northern Lights minibus and head out of town in search of the dancing lights.
The Golden Circle consists of 3 main attractions; Thingvellir National Park was established the year 1930 which was the 1000th Anniversary of Althing, the national parliament of Iceland. Thingvellir has tremendous geological significance as it actually lies in a rift valley between the North American Tectonic plate and the Euroasian.
The Great Geysir is the hot spring that all hot springs are named after, The original one as some say. Geysir is located in a hot spring area in Haukadalur, and even though it is currently not active, another hot spring in the same area is very active and erupts every 5-7 minutes.
Gullfoss is a glacial river flowing from Langjokull glacier, Iceland‘s second biggest glacier. The magnitude and power of the water that runs there through is really quite breathtaking. Gullfoss has become very dear to Icelandic hearts.
The northern Lights is something that you will never forget. This dancing phenomenon can show up in many colors although green and pink are the two most common colors. Red, blue, yellow and violet have been seen before so keep an eye out. Your guide will take you out into the Icelandic countryside, away from any artificial light, giving you the best chance to see the Aurora. We provide hot chocolate, warm blankets, small icelandic treats and a chance to have your picture taken with the northern lights,
