Overall the property had what my family and I were looking for - location. The hotel has an old charm to it and it was always busy and full of guests and non guests. We stayed in a corner room so we could get as much light we could and also have cloud gate view. The shower was great and bed was comfy. Overall 5 stars but if we didn’t have the natural lighting or a good view it could easily go down to 2 stars because the room can get warm quick so it’s best to crack open a window. I believe other rooms have smaller windows and are darker in general.

Great first trip to Chicago!

The valet parking makes it easy to get in/out of the hotel area without stress. $79 a night is expensive but worth it to us. The customer service is top notch and everyone is friendly and professional. The room was clean and well kept. Bed comfortable. The only problem was that our mini fridge wasn’t working. When I notified the front desk, they apologized and refunded the $30 resort fee without me asking for it.

Well-designed, comfortable rooms with well-appointed furnishings. The bed was comfortable, the shower pressure was strong and the soaps and shampoos were great. I would stay here again.

Wait Wait!

What a charming hotel! We loved playing a boar game in the Game Room before our dinner at the rooftop Restraunt Cindy’s! Such a great location, so close to Millenium station and the Fine Arts building. We came in to see a tapping of Wait Wait Don’t Tell me and had an absolutely fabulous time in the city.

Booked the Founder’s room. The fridge did not work. There were less windows/ no tub which is misleading from the listing. It’s a gorgeous space with some luxe details but misses

So uncomfortable

Although the Chicago Athletic Association is a charming hotel with various amenities, our stay was uncomfortable. The rooms are cramped and difficult to get around with two people. The temperature was hot and guests don't have the ability to adjust the temperature in the rooms. Sleeping was uncomfortable both nights because of the temperature situation. I asked for a fan the second night but still wasn't helpful. The fridge in the room didn't work so getting drinks cold was out of the question. I don't see myself staying here in the future.

Noisy

Overall a great place to stay that’s well located. There was construction work happening that was incredibly loud and began before 8 am in the morning. I struggled to have virtual meetings in my room due to the noise. I wasn’t given advance notice of this by the hotel.

The Chicago Athletic Association offers a unique experience, blending historic charm with modern luxury. While the stay wasn't quite my vibe, I must commend the Hyatt for its remarkable efforts in preserving the building's rich character and architectural integrity. That said, the hotel can be quite noisy, with many families with young children. However, for those seeking a family-friendly stay with a variety of activities, this hotel may be right for you.
