"Loved the hardwood floors"
My newlywed wife and I wanted to stay close in town to see the Christmas lights in the Old Town. I looked for days to find a reasonable priced hotel that was close to the city. What we found was amazing. The room was very clean and you could tell the cleaning crew took pride in their work. The hardwood floors were a added plus. I don't like carpet in a hotel room. Breakfast was a very pleasant surprised. We were served cafeteria style and each day they had something different to chose from. The servers were extremely polite even to the point of asking us if the pancakes were hot enough. The location was just a few yards from The Big Red Train Station. I wouldn't advise walking into town unless you are in great physical condition. The staff at the desk were very polite and shared many points of interest with us. One of the mornings that we were there was very stormy. The hotel clerk suggested a movie at the local theater. Overall I would rate this stay a five.

"Awesome place @ the beach!"
After reading other reviews I was skeptical. However, this place is nice, clean, right at the beach, and I would stay here again. I travel frequently and for this price range I was very, very pleased.

"Nothing to write home about. "
The room was comfortable and the king size bed was comfortable. It does look like it was updated but it still needed the finishing touches. The door was being worked on when we checked in and it was hit or miss to stay shut. Slamming it worked well. I would recommend it and stay there again.

"close to I-95 for easy assess."
Overall quiet hotel especially next to an Interstate. Close to several chain restaurants (walk-able) and next to a large outlet mall. Breakfast was the same daily offering eggs and bacon, bagels, juice etc. Husband stated the coffee was excellent. Bathroom was small with no vent. Bed was comfortable. This Best Western was pet friendly and had enough room to walk the dog and seemed to place guests with pets in the same area of the hotel which was nice. Overall would stay in this Best Western again.

"Not really a resort"
We stayed on a Tuesday and Wednesday in May, a wonderful time to go since it's considered the off season so there's not many crowds and the weather is very comfortable. The room was comfortable, but I wouldn't consider it a resort so just add the "resort fee" to the room price and be honest about it. We had a pet so was on the back side next to the train tracks. It's nothing they can do about that, but the train was a problem. First night they past 8 times, the first few were ok but at 4:40, 5:11, 5:29, 6, 8:18 and ok all ready I'm up at 8:53, it's a bit much. Not as many the second night, but I was really tired by then. Breakfast was very good and the staff super friendly and helpful. If you want to walk to everything you want a place on Avenida Menendez, this is off Route 1 so you need to drive but I didn't find it that much of a problem. Most places have free parking or meter parking. Try the Red Train instead of Trolley, it's cheaper and has a discount senior rate. But the trolley is right next door so you can stay here and get around town that way. And they do take pets, for a fee per head, which is nice when travelling with ferrets!

"Location! Location! Location!"
This hotel has the perfect location. You can sit on the deck and watch the boats in the bay or walk out your door and turn the corner and be downtown in just a few steps. The staff are friendly and helpful. We try to stay here each visit. The rooms are kind of small but if you are like us you don't spend much time there

"Great place, but bring your own OJ."
My fiancee and I stayed here for several days and had a great time. I rarely say that a hotel has decent coffee, but between the front of house and Keurig in the rooms, it is better than most.. The beds are quite comfortable and the tv is large. Even adjoining rooms were surprisingly quiet. To get to the beach, all you have to do is walk across the street. It's shells, not sand (bring water shoes, not sandals), but wonderfully silent. Really our only complaint was at breakfast, where the eggs and orange juice were fake (powdered/concentrate). Isn't non-fresh orange juice a felony in Florida? We spoke with a number of the staff throughout our stay and everyone was helpful and friendly. It's not far from the tourist attractions, but wonderfully quiet. So, long story short, stay here, but pick up a few things at the grocery store (Publix) about a mile down the way. (Also, I normally travel alone, for work, but this was the best place I've ever had for a vacation.)

St. Augustine Pet Friendly Hotel Guide

When you and your pet are looking to renew your lust for life, sometimes a trip to the fountain of youth is in order. No, you don’t have to visit the day spa or a plastic surgeon. Instead, a stay at a pet-friendly hotel in St. Augustine—like The Cozy Inn —will put you within walking distance of the real Fountain of Youth that so captivated Ponce de León centuries ago. But America’s oldest city has much more for you and Ruth Bader Ginsbark to discover than an elusive stream of metaphysical revitalizing water. Boasting some of America’s best sea shores in Crescent Beach and Vilano Beach, as well as unparalleled history, upscale boutiques, and a vibrant art scene, St. Augustine delivers enchantment behind every grass-capped dune, under every majestic palm, and around every cobblestone corner.

What are the best pet-friendly restaurants in St. Augustine?

With Spanish, Caribbean, and Southern influences, St. Augustine’s cuisine reflects its unique position in the New World. When you and your tail-wagging tour mate are looking for a great place to dine in the Old City close to your St. Augustine dog-friendly hotel, be sure to check out some of our recommendations:

    • Florida Cracker Café: This local favorite in the historical district has been serving up fresh seafood, salads, and sandwiches on St. George Street for over 20 years. You and your pet can people watch and be entertained by the street performers in between courses.
    • Beaches at Vilano: Enjoy a taste of the finest Floridian food like fried gator, spicy jambalaya, and Ahi tuna while tapping your toes to live music on the outdoor deck.
    • Creekside Dinery: Can’t decide between surf or turf? Have both under the magnolia trees in the outdoor dining area. The blackened ribeye and steamed shrimp are divine.
    • Salt Life Food Shack: Prefer your fish straight-from-the ocean? With inventive sushi rolls and an expansive raw bar, you’ll be in seafood Shangri La.

Where are the best pet-friendly attractions in St. Augustine?

After a relaxing day of catching up on your beauty sleep (better known as laying out on the sun-kissed Vilano Beach), you might be eager to see what else St. Augustine has to offer. Here are some of our pet-friendly attractions in the area:

    • Fountain of Youth Archeological Park: What trip to St. Augustine would be complete without exploring this 15-acre waterfront historical site? With a planetarium, reconstructed Native-American village, and a 600-foot observation deck, you might need a whole day to see it all.
    • St. Augustine Eco Tours: You and your furry friend can select either a kayak adventure or a sailing excursion on the Intracoastal Waterway where you’ll see a variety of local flora and fauna.
    • Colonial Quarter: Discover 16-18th century St. Augustine with this guided tour through local history. Experience the slower pace of a simpler time.

When you use Travelocity to book your St. Augustine pet-friendly hotel like the Holiday Isle Oceanfront Resort, we can’t promise you that you’ll find the fountain of youth. But we can guarantee that you’ll save enough money to make a Spanish galleon jealous.
