Not to pricey, walking distance to Time Square

Good experience, very nice and friendly staff, and great breakfast too! The only inconvenience is the elevator wait time, which has been reported many times. If you are thinking about money, you can wait for the elevator! :)

Intrepid visit

Within walking distance to lots places. The breakfast area is a bit small for the amount of guests and sink top lacks space for your toiletries. Over all it was a nice place to stay.

Tiny rooms but clean

The rooms were tiny tiny. There were four of us and we had to put the chair out in the hallway so that we could put the luggage down. It was our first time to nyc so that may be standard and we just don't know that. The staff was great. The breakfast was great for getting the day started, very convenient. The location was good, about a ten minute walk to Times Square. .

Christmas vacation 2015

We loved everything about the holiday in express! It's very clean and staff was top notch! Took care of all of our needs! Our clerk, Josie, was a gem for helping us get settled and finding our way around the city! The rooms are a bit small but we didn't stay inside for long...way too much to do and see! I will definitely stay here again and would tell anyone else to stay as well! The location is perfect, allowing close proximity to tons of sightseeing options but allowing quiet time after everyone has finished for the day and in need of sleep time.

In NYC to see opening night of "Amazing Grace"

Pros: Breakfast, great staff, room cleanliness. Only a block and a half from our son's apartment.
Cons: Need microwaves in rooms. We had a fridge, but had to go to the lobby to heat up leftovers.
Location: Within walking distance of Time Square, only 2 blocks from Lobster Boat, Casa Agave had great Mexican food at a great price.
Amazing Grace was fantastic at the Nederlander Theatre, had friends who went on the Lobster Boat 2 blocks away from hotel, 9-11 memorial was heart-moving as it will always be. The Freedom Tower Observatory was truly amazing. Our daughter-in -law had picked up tickets and appointment times in advance for the memorial and observatory, so we were able to move ahead of those who were waiting in line. Restaurants in this area are a little pricey, but the food was fresh and excellent. It is always good to have a son and daughter-in-law, or a friend or relative who knows their way around NYC, so you don't have to find your way around by yourself. We love NYC and enjoy the times we spend there, but this country boy could never live there.

I was misled.

If I wanted to stay in a Holiday Inn Express, I would have gone directly to their website and booked a room.  Travelocity's "Secret Pick" was not the bargain that it professed.  The price I paid was not a discounted price and I was very disappointed.  The Holiday Inn staff was perfect in every way, but the accommodations were pitifully small for 4 women sharing a room.  The room had NO closet and NO drawer space.  Suitcases were on the window ledge, shoved between the bed and walls, and in the bathroom.  Movement throughout the room had to be strategically planned and if someone was sitting in the one chair, all other movement was prohibited, as the chair blocked all paths.  Aside from that, the hotel was a half mile away from the closest subway and across the street from a Salvation Army shelter home.  I tried to remain non-judgemental about this, but one night there was a major fight outside, complete with police presence.  Oy....vay...

Worst stay ever!

We arrived to find that the hotel is located directly across the street from a Salvation Army, where a dozen or so homeless men were milling about at all times. We booked a room with 2 double beds, for my husband and myself, and our 2 teenagers. We were given a tiny room (which I expected in Manhatten) with one king size bed, and a twin size fold-out couch. When I called the front desk, they would not switch the room, and even tried to get me to believe it was a better room than the one we reserved, because we had a king size bed. I went to the front desk personally and was given the EXACT same speech, practically word-for-word, which leads me to believe they do this all the time. We had to sleep 3 grown people in a bed! The next morning, they served a horrible breakfast in the tiny front room, which was so crowded you could not even get near the food. Once we finally got something to eat, we had to go outside in the 90 degree heat and sit by the street. They treat their guests like cattle. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Don't be mislead

The hotel is a very nice hotel in a great location. It was offered at a very competitive price. HOWEVER, it was not a 4 star as advertised. The rooms are tiny, you can't sit at the desk, if you slide the chair back it hits the bed. The "free" breakfast was a disaster. They ran out of many of the food items. The buffet line is very poorly laid out. It is tucked in a corner. The food that was on the buffte was mediocre at bestThe line to get breakfast was all the way to the front doors and moving very slow because of the layout. This is probably a 3 star hotel at best. I would say that the staff was very nice and accommodating. It just doesn't meet the standards of a 4 star. I could recommend staying there as long as people aren't mislead about the offerings and ratings.
