"Pro: Staff was amazing, location and parking were excellent, price was great as well Con: windows so thin that it felt like the seagulls and people on the steet were IN my room on the top floor. My friend in the room next door said the same. Very hard to sleep past 5am."

"Our experience was extremely disappointing for three reasons. First the property, which is quite old, has not been well maintained. The word I would use to describe our room is "shabby." Pretty shocking at this price point. Second, the management and service levels are below par. The primary draw of the property is the ocean view, meaning the property is located on a sloped hillside. That means stairs and distant parking lots. We arrived at night and no assistance or explanation was offered other than a map handed to us at the front desk. Finding our room in the dark was in no way intuitive.Seriously, at these prices? Finally, we were subtly pitched on the timeshare which co-exists on the propery. Tacky. We are never going back"

"Right from check in, the front desk person was odd and standoffish. Our room had zero view, hard wood floors with sand on it... There was a poor patch job done to the shower bottom that appears water damaged. We could not use the pool or hot tub apon arrival due to an unexpected music event??? Last but not least ..there was non boutique amenities in the room reminiscent of motel 6....WE HAD NO AIR CONDITIONING IN OUR ROOM..aaaand the location of our room was right next to a main entrance and we could hear all the doors slamming and rude loud guests. Sure, there is many shopping and dining experiences near by and the beaches are lovely nearby...but this review is NOT about Carmel and its value now is it??? "
