A Place to Pause
The pictures don't do this property justice.
Everything is as depicted but the impression the house makes in person, is so much more than pictures can convey. It is a return to craftsmanship, elegance and detail.
Everything you could hope for is present. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and clearly labeled making everything easy to find. Every surface was clean. The furnishings were period appropriate yet inviting and comfortable. The décor created a definite sense of place. The game room was spacious, bright and full of entertaining options for young and old alike. Outdoor areas welcomed you for a morning cup of tea and good conversation. The location is close to Balboa Park and downtown. Excellent restaurants are close by. The airport is only a few minutes away. There really isn't anything you could want, on the surface, that isn't here.
What makes this place different is the impact it can have on you. The best way to describe that is to pass on what happened with my oldest child, who was inspired to reorganize her room when we returned home. Such is the positive impression this space makes.
Of course I can't promise that something similar will happen for you, but we have stayed in many nice places, and this simple act conveys makes this house stand out. Your step slows a beat, you linger a bit longer, you notice more. You rest.
What The Coulter House offers, is respite. Something we all need a bit of today.
