Since this is a no human property, the entry door lock should be maintained. The current one is loose and undependable. They had to tape a handwritten sign about how to jiggle the handle once you’ve entered the code. 4 different customers and ourselves were very frustrated trying to get into the front door. It is a very minimalist accommodation.

Dear Derek, Thank you for your review, this is a new door handle, for this specific door this is the only handle that can be installed. The instruction is written on the door because guests tend to use to much strength on the door handle which causes the door handle to lock. This is actually what occured in your case as your handle was pushed down to hard and ended up locking your door. I did not receive any complaints or frustrations from other guests in regards to the door, we have hosts that answer the phone 24/7 about the door issue. Our price is less expensive then the surrounding hotels due to offering standard accommodations. Hotel Gigi's main priority is to make the guest comfortable and happy, and we strive to achieve the best quality and service.

Stepped out for 20 minutes and came back to my room door being open and my stuff rearranged and when I contacted the host about it she became very defensive and dismissive about the situation

Dear Irwin, Thank you for your review, after you checked out, hotel gigi security carefully inspected the situation. The reason your door had issues was because the yale adapter was nearly pulled out, which caused the connection between the internet and the door key to malfunction. Therefore when you closed the door, the door did not lock and naturally opened. My other observation was that you and your companion took off the mattress cover and placed it in the closet. I plugged the adapter back in which caused the door to work again and had to place a new cover for the bed. This situation has never happened at Hotel Gigi, this behavior was unusual. This should resolve the issue of why the door was left open as noted nothing appeared missing. It is hotel gigi policy for guest to not move or disconnect devices in the room.
