How to get through airport security fast when traveling to Vancouver
Your journey to Vancouver begins the minute you’ve satisfied all the security checks. Here are a few helpful tips and hints to ensure you pass through quickly:

  • Keep your travel ID and boarding pass within easy reach. They’ll be the first things you’ll be asked to produce by airport security personnel.
  • Coins, belts and wrist watches must be placed in a tub for X-raying. If you walk into the body scanner with any one of these items, you’ll be instructed to turn back and remove them.
  • Laptops, digital cameras and other electronic devices must be placed in a tub to be X-rayed.
  • When you approach the security checkpoint, you’ll be asked to put all creams, gels and liquids in a separate bin for scanning. Make sure they’re all in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and sealed in a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Airport security staff may instruct you to take off your shoes in preparation for entering the body scanner. Choose a pair that you can take off easily. There’s nothing more tiresome than having to do your laces up again and again.
  • The list of prohibited items is forever updating. Read over your carrier’s website to learn about what is not allowed on board their aircraft.

What is the best day to buy a plane ticket?

Airfares offered on Friday tend to be the cheapest, according to flight demand on Travelocity.ca in 2021. Purchasing your airfares on a Thursday or Saturday can also provide better value, however our advice if you’re looking to save money is to avoid booking on a Wednesday or Sunday. Our data shows that those two days have the highest ticket values on average, so keep this in mind if you’re browsing flight deals.

 

What are the cheapest days to fly?

Frequent travellers may already know this, earlier in the week is often the cheapest time to fly. Flights departing on a Monday are the cheapest of the week. Since flights towards the middle of the week tend to be more popular, this causes the prices to rise. This is why, on average, airfares booked on Travelocity.ca in 2021 were most expensive for Wednesday departures.

 

How far in advance can you book a flight?

Here’s the deal: It is typically possible to start comparing international airfares on Travelocity.ca up to 12 months in advance. However, it does depend on the carrier as not all airlines release their prices that far out. Flights to Vancouver, British Columbia (YVR)

Flights into Vancouver International Airport (YVR) are scheduled by 42 passenger airlines, 20 of which provide international service. Heading to more than 100 destinations, both within Canada and around the globe, flights into Vancouver International are served in two terminals: the regional airline terminal and the international terminal.

Located on Sea Island, in Richmond, British Columbia, YVR is just 12 km from the city of Vancouver. Access to the city center and environs is provided by traditional taxi, bus, and rental car options, but efficient and convenient service is also provided by Canada Line Rapid Transit Rail Link running on 10-minute intervals.

If you are flying to Vancouver International Airport, you will find good choices for dining; shopping for travel needs such as books, music, fashions, and souvenirs; and an extremely convenient hotel, layover/day spa, and health club.
