As soon as you arrive at Secrets Royal Beach, you don’t have to lift a finger. The attentive bellman takes care of your luggage, while you’re busy accepting a cool, scented towel and a refreshing welcome drink. Savor the moment, but then move on since that is just the beginning of the extremely impressive service offered at Secrets Royal Beach. As this was my first visit to Punta Cana, I was pleasantly surprised of how hospitable the people of the Dominican Republic are toward tourists. They are so happy you have traveled to visit their country and truly treat you as their honored guest at every turn.

The big secret here is not to stress over your room. Every single room at Secrets Royal Beach is a Junior Suite. Just choose your view – tropical, pool or ocean. Tip: If you want the best view, ask for the top floor. If you are a water lover, request a first floor junior suite with easy access to the pool or beach. For those that never want to leave the pool, you can reserve a Junior Suite Swim-Up with your own meandering pool right outside your terrace door.

Relaxing Pevonia Spa

Visiting the spa is a must for any and all of my travels. The anticipation of experiencing another luxury spa was on my mind – would it meet up to my expectations? Well the quick answer is yes, but there is much more to the Pevonia Spa story. The Pevonia Spa at Secrets Royal Beach offers a rarely seen outdoor spa lounge along with a luxury hydrotherapy area also. While the spa is definitely a place to refresh, this spa is dedicated to relaxation. It starts as you await your spa treatment in the hydotherapy area with a dedicated spa attendant. How luxurious it is to be guided from one station to the next!

Your mind can clear itself of all cares – even how long you should spend in the sauna! While there do not forget to visit the pediluvio. A pediluvio is a special area to enhance the circulation of your feet and lower legs. One slowly strolls through the areas as water of various degrees massages your calfs and your feet are gently tickled by small pebbles massing your soles. This entire experience will also enhance your inner soul too! By the time I had a massage and facial by a Master Pevonia Trainer, I could barely walk I was so relaxed.

The Pevonia Spa was definitely world class by this spa expert’s standards. While in Punta Cana I also visited the Pevonia Spas at Now Onyx and Suncape resorts. Each had great facilities and extremely well-trained spa attendants. My biggest treat of the trip was the discovery of Fish Therapy at the Pevonia Spa at each resort.

Fish Therapy is when you dip your feet in and let Garrarufa fish from Japan nibble until your feet are soft and smooth. It feels like hundreds of tiny jacuzzi jets massaging your feet and only tickled a bit. You can see a video of my fish therapy treatment here on Instagram. If you ever wanted to try Fish Therapy, this is the place to do it. Each spa’s facilities were extremely clean and the price is super cheap! I found all spa treatments at these resorts to be more reasonable than in the U.S. or other countries – a good reason to treat yourself!

The White Sand Beach

Punta Cana is sometimes called “Coconut Coast” and it’s easy to see why. The beaches are lined with hundreds of coconut trees and some of the whitest sand I have ever encountered. The sand was perfectly soft on your feet and free of seaweed. It may have been the numerous shades of bright blue, but I could not take my eyes off the ocean view. There is something extremely special about the coast in Punta Cana.  Take a journey there yourself and then you can keep that secret experience for yourself.
