More than likely, your upcoming travel plans have been heavily impacted by the global spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). We know this situation has created challenges and uncertainty for you and your family, which is why we are working closely with airline partners to waive cancellation/change penalties and provide credit toward future travel until April 30, 2020, where policies permit. The information below provides simple ways to cancel flights, plus you’ll find answers to frequently asked questions.
RELATED: Visit the Travelocity customer service page for more COVID-19 related questions.
If your flight is scheduled to return before May 31, 2020
- You can cancel your upcoming flight online or in-app through Travelocity at no penalty.
- You will receive a credit with the airline that can be redeemed for future travel equivalent to the cost of the ticket + taxes and fees.
- Note: Credit availability and “travel by” dates are determined by the airline.
What you’ll need to get started
- Locate your itinerary number from your confirmation email or login to your Travelocity account and go to your My Trips page.
- Have your travel dates, email, and phone number you used to make the booking handy.
Four easy ways to cancel
Use one of these options from Travelocity to cancel:
- Cancel online from My Trips. Log in to access your booking and follow the instructions from your itinerary to cancel.
- Cancel using our chat functionality. From the My Trips page, or customer service portal, click the blue Chat Now button to talk to the virtual agent who will guide you through the process of cancelling your booking and answer other questions you may have.
- Complete the cancel request form. Fill out this form using the itinerary number, email, and phone number from your booking. After submitting the form the cancel request will be processed.
- If your flight is departing within the next 72 hours, click the Contact Us button at the top of the page to speak directly with an agent.
Flight Cancellation FAQ
- Should I cancel through you or contact my airline directly? Our agents cannot cancel or change reservations booked on many low-cost and international airlines, including Aer Lingus, Easy Jet, Fun Jet, Norwegian, Spirit, Frontier and Volaris. If your airline is on this list, we cannot change or cancel reservations for these airlines. Please follow the guidance on the airline’s website and work with them to make any changes to your flight.
- What if I purchased two one-way flights? If you purchased 2 one-way flights, each flight must be changed or cancelled separately.
- What if my flight is part of a vacation package? Travelers with a vacation package should cancel each component of their trip separately. For example, if you purchased a flight + hotel vacation package, please follow the above steps to cancel your flight and visit our hotel page FAQ for instructions on cancelling your hotel.
- Why can’t I get a refund? Travelocity follows the policies of its travel partners and airline providers. Many airlines at this time are offering credit toward a future flight unless the flight has been cancelled.
- Will I have to pay a fee to change or cancel? Some airlines allow for full waiver of fees and penalties during this event. If your airline does not permit a full refund, our customer support team will contact you to advise you of the next best available option.
- I tried all of the options above and still can’t cancel my flight. If none of the above options were successful in cancelling your booking, you may attempt to cancel directly with the airline provider.
- But what if I have travel insurance? Can I get a refund then? Check your policy to see if unforeseen events like COVID-19 are covered. You may have the option to file a claim with the insurance provider. Please note that a refund is not guaranteed in that instance. If you still wish to cancel your flight through Travelocity you may do so.
- My flight is set to depart after April 30, 2020. Can I still cancel? Airline policies are changing daily due to COVID-19. Please wait and check back closer to your date of departure for the latest policies. If you do want to cancel today, you can do so from the My Trips page, but please be aware that all normal cancellation penalties will apply.

My itinerary leaving on April 25th domestically got canceled from American Airlines airline and Travelocity is only issuing me a future travel credit and from what I understand from DOT and American Airlines if flight is canceled due to Covid-19 then I should be issued refund. And if you read above it says that Travelocity also follows the airlines policy but they are not at this time it sounds like
Same happened with me. I contacted Delta and they said I am eligible for a refund since it was a schedule change. I called Travelocity back and they issued the refund. It’ll take around 30 days to get. Call American Airlines to see if you are eligible as well. Good Luck!
Were you ever able to get a refund? I am trying to get a refund for flight to Hawaii in June 2020, I can no longer go so I do not need vouchers, I just want my refund.
Travelers that had to cancel hotel past the 48hr cancellation notice due to US border closure should not be penalized with the one night fee! I realize the extreme times but my husband and I lost ~$500 for hotel only as we had to make the unfortunate decision that health was the priority. Please consider refunding the remaining amount of our trip. We are grateful for the credit already provided.
What about refunding for Flight Protection Plan that I purchased? Please email me so I can give you my itinerary number and FPP number. I am posting this on 4/13/2020.
They will not give refund for protection plan. Travel Guard site https://www.travelguard.com/travel-news/coronavirus-advisory says “you may be entitled to a voucher or date modification”. Travelocity is supposed to go by the policy of their partners but they refuse to acknowledge the Travel Guard coronavirus policy. I’ve been trying to get my voucher or change dates on my policy but they act like they don’t understand what I’m requesting.I have dealt with 5 reps and a supervisor and all they say is “refunds are not allowed after 15 days”. Even though I have specifically, repeatedly stated I’m not looking for a refund but a voucher. When I give them the link they blow me off and say “Thanks for contacting Travelocity”. I finally sent an email with pics and link of the Travel Guard policy and put in all caps “I DO NOT WANT A REFUND! I WANT A VOUCHER! They seriously wrote me back saying “I understand you would like a refund for your travel insurance. Unfortunately refunds can not be given 15 days after the policy was purchased.” I’m still fighting it and am thinking of getting a lawyer. If you decide to try for a voucher just know it’s going to be stressful. Best of luck to you.
Travelocity is an out and out thief. I’m out $1600 for a trip and still waiting for the $1,100 that they still haven’t given me. Travelocity sent an email on 4/24/20 saying i’d get a refund. they didn’t say it would be only partial. Capital One and Visa won’t do do a thing but take the money and run. The hotel and transfer company cancelled and didn’t charge but United (money mongrel) didn’t . Hope Travelocity, Capital One, Visa and United choke on every dime.
The DOT rules require that if an an airline cancels your flights they must refund to your form of payment if you do not want a credit. If you can’t get to your destination if you have a package, I would think the hotel you booked would give you a refund as well. Most hotels have a policy for refunding by a certain time before your checkin date.
I received a notice from Travelocity that I can cancel my international flight through United and receive a “credit for future flights.” They have not yet canceled the flight outright, which would qualify me for a refund according to DOT. If I cancel now, before April 30th, am I eligible for a refund or do I need to wait for United to cancel the flight outright? The terms of cancellation now are unclear: Can I use the full value of the flight for several flights? Am I required to fly just through United? Are there restrictions? I believe that the refund must be used within 24 months. So, do I cancel now without knowing the full terms, or do I wait to see if United cancels the flight in which case I would qualify for a refund?
American Airlines cancelled our flight of 1 leg of 4 legs, and Travelocity in turn cancelled the entire reservation and is issuing a refund (without our approval or even notification). So now, there is absolutely no way to get to Europe (especially with the quarantine). So now what happens to the hotel reservations? How can we be penalized when all of this was beyond our control and we did not voluntarily cancel anything? This is a class action lawsuit in the making. Travelocity can EASILY flex their muscle and say to the hotels, “If you do not refund our client’s money, we will not host your lodgings on Travelocity or Expedia any more.” That would DEFINITELY get the hotels to refund the $$$. They need Travelocity and Expedia more than they need the hotels. There are PLENTY of hotels for Travelocity and Expedia to have on their site. Travelocity needs to step up and get our money back. We did not cancel voluntarily nor is there a way to complete that travel. And vouchers mean nothing because we can’t reschedule a wedding and figure out a future time to travel. This was years in the planning.
Penalties Rules per your Fare Rules and Restrictions says; Cancellations any time per ticket charge US$100.00 for “Refund.” Therefore, the amount should be “refunded” and not by “travel credit.” With airlines losing so much money, any of them can go bankrupt.
I received airline credit information from Travelocity/American Airlines for two round trip airline tickets which were effective on May 8, 2020. They said a confirmation with all the details, amount and expiration date would be sent soon, we never received the Confirmation. I have tried to reach them with no luck. I’m not sure what steps to take at this time.
I’m having hard time getting an agent to help me out. United told me I’m untitled to my refund. The agent states to use for future travel. We have no cure for Covid 19 how are we suppose to plan future travel? At uncertain times like this we shouldn’t be experiencing more stress from Travelocity Agent. Consumer are entitled to their refund especially if airlines state such! Horrible experience and service!
If a flight from US to Europe is cancelled due to COVID-19 and the ticket holder request reimbursement from the airline, are the taxes and other fees added to the ticket, which are a substantial share of the flight cost, also reimbursed or is only the basic flight charged by the airline reimbursed?
The airline cancelled my flights and I’ve received a message that I have an airline credit and I must call in to apply the credit. When I call in and plug in my information the phone system says that it isn’t within 72 hours and asks me to call back. It’s a fatal loop. There has to be a way to apply the credit. If not, please refund the ticket so that I can try to book another flight.
If I cancelled through Travelocity and received airline credit, do I need to book through Travelocity to use the credit or can I book directly through the airline?
My flight from the beginning of April was canceled. I was not issued a refund. I have still been unable to reach a customer service agent.
If a small airline cancelled flight in Jun 13 2020 due to covid and I want full refund, how do I get that done?
We’ll just have to call our ticket loss a giant baggage charge. What thieves!
British Airways cancelled my flight that I booked through Travelocity on April 15th. Still getting the run around from Travelocity on a refund that BA says I have coming since THEY cancelled there flight
My family and i arranged a trip to NYC before the covid out break. 2-12 thru 2-15. My son had to last minute drop out of the trip. Since we took out the insurance i called travelocity and canceled (1) of my 2 rooms and (1) round trip ticket. they said no problem… this is what the insurance is for. It may take several billing cycles for you to see the $900 + credit to your credit card . ITS BEEN 3 months. Can someone tell me if my credit is coming or not ? My wife and i considered our selves true travalocity customers before all of this … Just looking for a status or confirmation. Thank You.
I cancelled a flight last December and I had until April 14 to redeem the cancellation. I tried 10ths of times to get in touch with Travelocity to solve my problem without success. I don’t know what else to do.
I scheduled a vacation package which I cancelled before flights were impacted by Covid 19. I have received a reimbursement from the car rental and the hotel, but have not received a refund for my flight. I have attempted to contact travelocity and continually receive “all representatives are busy. I have been trying for over 3 months with no response. I purchased vacation insurance….cancel for any reason.
I am still trying to get my money back as Hawaii is still under 14 day quarantine and I will no longer be able to go on my trip or any trip for that matter. I purchased the insurance too, filed a claim and keep getting told the claim number is invalid then when I go to file a claim is gives me the claim number (the invalid one) and says it is a duplicate claim… this is going on 8 months. I will never recommend this site to anyone. I also emailed the claim email and got no reponse…
Call the airline and give them your info
We had a business trip planned in March in Northern Italy. The conference was cancelled due to Covid. All the airports in Northern Italy were closed with the exception of Milan so they would not refund our tickets. We had to change them for a future time. We changed them to October having no idea that this thing was going to hit the US so hard and stay indefinitely. They had the audacity to CHARGE us for changing the trip. They would not even refund the upgrades that we purchased. We have NO desire to travel anytime soon. We are old and have other health factors. I am disgusted with Travelocity, American and British Airlines for robbing us of thousands of dollars. The airlines were given millions of dollars for Covid. Pay it forward if you ever want to see my money again..

Travelocity is not protecting anyone’s travel interest. If anything, they are extorting monies from their customers. If you read their fine print, even with travel insurance and COVID you may not get a refund. I have a trip planned to Hawaii on August 10th, and with the flare ups of COVID the travel ban may not be lifted by then. I am trying to work out refunds, and am getting no where with Travelocity. They told me to wait until 3 days of travel to cancel (really, when you can’t even get someone to assist you?) Currently, still on the phone and on hold after an hour and 30 minutes.
Shame on them for not having a plan in place to protect their customers. I will take them to small claims court if I have to, and encourage everyone else to do so as well.
Are there travel restrictions from USA to Tanzania? if there are what dates are blocked? Thanks
My husband and I have a trip scheduled to St. Thomas in November 2020. We are 69 yrs. old. Due to the Corona virus We would like to cancel our airline reservation and also our trip insurance. How do I get this refund? Since we are in the high risk population with pre-existing conditions, we should receive a full refund. Correct? Please respond ASAP. Many thanks.
i have to cancel my trip to Indonesia whit EVA air lines but i didn’t not receive any refund, i try to call the air line but is impossible to reach them and Travelocity is the same should i just forget about my money?
I had a vacation to Athens planned 10/1/2020. When I arrived at the airport to attempt to check in I was told that Travel to Greece was limited to residents and individuals on government business, not for tourists. Travelocity is offering a credit for the flight. I want a refund! It’s not my fault I can’t travel. I showed up with the intentions of taking the flight. The Travelocity rep tried to say I was a “no show” in an attempt to justify no refund. I spent almost 4 hrs on the phone talking to various reps trying to get this resolved.
Planned a trip to Vegas for the marathon but it was postponed due to covid19. I purchased travel insurance at the time of booking. I’ve spoken with Travelocity personnel twice trying to get a refund. They won’t give me a dime. They only offer a voucher from the airline for the amount of the ticket that must be used by the middle of 2022. They also told me my insurance was canceled because it didn’t cover global pandemics. They would not refund the money for the insurance either. I’ve always used Travelocity to book trips but won’t anymore. They’ve lost my business. The other options probably aren’t any better. Horrible to treat people like this.
exactly i bought aig travelguard injsurance through travelocity in december of 2019 for a vacation package in june of 2020, but because the resort was closed the trip was cancelled and the insurance refused to pay and travelocity nor the insurance company would reimburse the 248.00 i paid for the useless insurance policy. called numerous times to travelocity they barely speak english and act like they cant understand you, then you ask to speak to supervisor and they put you on hold til you hang up, happened 3 times to me. the company is useless if you have issues, poorest customer service i ever saw.. plus i had a airline credit coming and went to rebook another package and the woman lady said i couldnt use the airline credit for another package and couldnt give me a explanation why or how it affected me. what a scam
Is this still in effect? The dates stated here are for April and May.
We planned a trip to LA for September 2020 . We bought our round trip tickets From United through Travelocity with TavelGuard in 2.2020. AS soon as we found out our event was cancelled on 4.30.2020 .LA and the New Jersey were under lockdown, we notified Travelocity and our flight. I’ve spoken with Travelocity agents for a few times and the directed me to file for a refund from United. They also asked me to file for refund through AIG. AIG rejected because they didn’t cover global pandemics. United rejected to refund because they cannot find my booking. Travelocity agent suggested I should dispute with my credit card Capital One. After several months of attempts and asking for receipts, tickets and numerous forms every months for 3 months now,
Every time is a form letter and stated “we consider your case closed.
I wasted so much time and still getting nowhere. Very frustrating!
Very poor communication and service on the part of Travelocity, Travelguard Insurance (AIG) and United Airlines. Our flight/trip for May 2020 was cancelled to Rome due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We attempted to get a cash refund from UAL and were informed that UAL is not paid by Travelocity until the flights are taken. Instead we have a voucher for the flights good until August 2021 which is unacceptable as no one can predict the impact of the pandemic or future outbreaks. The hotel we booked clearly said no refund which we accepted as Harry’s Trevi Bar/Hotel is a great venue for a special trip (50th Anniversary trip). Though they were not required to, Harry’s offered a voucher good until June of 2021…again travel internationally is not recommended for the foreseeable future. We made a claim to AIG Travel Guard for the amount we paid. Travel Guard after a lengthy wait for a response informed us that Covid-19 was ‘an unforeseen event’ and as such was/is not covered. So we have no recourse to recover any of our cost paid 100% when we booked in August of 2019.
Recently there have been on line articles about class action suits against Travelocity and Travel Guard.
My advice: avoid both Travelocity and Travel Guard/AIG…once they get to your payment they provide very little support (if you can ever talk to a live person) or understanding…so use them fully expecting to lose your payment if your trip is cancelled thru no action of your own.
good
I had an international flight for mid February & also had travel insurance purchased through Travelocity. We canceled because our destination already had reported COVID cases, & while it was still early in the pandemic & people weren’t sure how dangerous things were, we canceled because it was a babymoon, & we didn’t want to risk anything being pregnant with our first child. However, due to it being before it was deemed a “pandemic,” we received no reimbursement whatsoever, despite being told by a Travelocity employee over the phone that the travel insurance company would do so. It has been hard enough becoming a first time parent during a pandemic, then to add on top of that money that we seemingly wasted on international roundtrip plane tickets for myself & my husband. This has definitely left a bad taste in my mouth towards Travelocity, a company we used & trusted prior to this.
I had same problem. My flights for international round trip the past July 2020 was cancelled because the Pandemia and I was told that I had to use the tickets before March 31st 2021. I called twice Travelocity as well the airlines involved and told that I have to wait and call them later to see how was the situation of the Pandemia. I called last time in January 11th and the representative in Travelocity told me to call the airline to fix or extend the Tickets and the airline told me that Travelocity is the one that has to do it since the tickets were purchase through them. I called back Travelocity and even wrote an email in the same date. I was told by Travelocity agent to call now in March. I just called them and now they told me that they cannot do anything since the reservation already expired!!!!!!! I think every body who has similar problems need to complain and report travelocity since those are clear cases of fraud. We paid a considerable amount of money for services that we never received
If they received the money and did not pay the airline, then it shouldn’t matter what airline was booked, Travelocity should pay back the money it received. Period.
I had to cancell my flight to Colombia twice…I call so many times to travelocity to ask when Im going to get a refund on my credit card…but nobody answer the phone
I can not get a airline credit because I don’t fligth very often so what can I do to contact some one to talk in travelocity?
Do not use Travelocity. I have been trying to get tickets refunded for three months, which follow the airlines policy of refunding the tickets. The airline is very helpful but cannot give me a refund since I used Travelocity. Travelocity has to request the refund. It has been impossible to get a hold of someone and to get information about receiving a refund.
How in the hell do you use a credit from COVID canceling without a voucher or coupon number????!!!!! I have been on the phone on hold for hours and continuously dealing with a BS virtual agent who says the same thing again and again and cannot help…..seriously someone help. Anyone have any idea or is Travelocity just stealing all that money and not answering phone calls…they make it impossible to talk to a person and their virtual crap is BS. I think it is time for a phone call to the news. I am sure I am not the only one dealing with this…any money is a lot of money when you can access it but I furious when I cannot use an $1100 credit!!!!!!
We had 1 room booked for my friends 40th birthday. But someone in the group was exposed to Covid so we wanted to not join the group that was already there 2 days prior. We were only to stay 1 night. But we did not get heads up until we were already inside our cancellation policy. I was told that I still had to pay over $400 in resort fees. This is ridiculous and there should be something done about Covid emergencies like this.
I have tried for one year to get a refund! I had travel plans to Barcelona from NY between May 8,2020 to May 17,2020. All I have gotten is the run-around. PLease help!!
Lies! I have $2000 worth of flight credits for tickets booked through Travelocity using carrier American Airlines. I’ve called American Airline 3 times to ask for the AA Airfare credit policy. The process goes as follows. Original ticket owner must rebook replacement ticket. Remaining balance is issued in the form of Travel Voucher. The Travel Voucher can be used on ANY traveler not on the original itinerary. Travelocity CLAIMS they “follow the policies of its travel partners and airline providers.” BUT THEY DO NOT. The will NOT issue the remaining balance in the form of a travel voucher and they will NOT allow the remaining balance to be booked in any other traveler name. Travelocity claims that is AA policy. Its not. Call them! I challenge you Travelocity to call AA, conference me on the line so the truth can be heard. But of course, you won’t do that. Instead you make me wait online for 7.5 hours for a rep to tell me you follow AA policies, when you don’t! The worst customer service I Have ever experienced and the fact that they openly lie online should make every consumer run.
I had to cancel airfare due to covid restrictions. Travelocity said I had a credit for future flights through Jet Blue but none are showing as available throughout the end of the year. My must be used by August 31, 2021 and can’t get in contact with an agent with Travelocity. I contacted Jet Blue and they can’t do anything since I booked through Travelocity. Any suggestions? I have been trying to contact Travelocity for over a week and their wait time is over 3 hours. I tried the virtual chat and get nowhere. I even left my phone number and still no response.
We booked the flights on Jan 13th 2020 for the travel date on May 26th 2020. Canadian government enforced travel restrictions. It’s been over 16 months and restrictions are still applicable. I do not have any plans in near future to travel outside of Canada as I don’t want to put myself and my family in danger due to Covid. I’m sure no one would like to take that responsibility as well.
I would like to get my money refunded ASAP. I’ll be willing to pay max $50 cancellatikn charge per person if applicable.
Thank you.
Purchased a ticket for 700$ paid the extra for an expensive ticket incase of refund, had to refund and I only got credit . No money back. I’m so disappointed in Travelocity .
Travelocity does not follow the same cancellation/refund policy of the airlines. You will be much worse off if you book through Travelocity. We have a $4000 travel bank credit with WestJet through Travelocity, but travel bank credits held through Travelocity have an additional restriction you don’t have if you booked directly with the airline: your rebooked flights MUST ORIGINATE FROM SAME COUNTRY OF ORIGIN AS CANCELLED FLIGHTS.
Since the cancelled flights were return flights from USA to Canada (March 2020 during height of Covid), the credits are almost useless to us. We would need to travel to the USA in order to fly anywhere. This is impossible as the border is closed to vehicle traffic and we have young children who are not vaccinated.
This restriction was not mentioned anywhere on the website when the flights were cancelled, and only mentioned in an email several months later when we inquired about a credit.
Oh, and additionally, WestJet travel bank credits through Travelocity are not transferrable, whereas they are 100% transferrable if you book directly with WestJet.
Never book flights through a third party. Always book directly with the airline.
Booked flights to get to a cruise. The cruise was cancelled due to Covid19 and the original statement was that these were non-refundable flights. However due to the pandemic they are refundable. But we are being penalized 400 Dollars to get a refund back that should have been 1800 dollars. So we are having to pay money to get money back…what????????
Cancelled trip due to Covid and was issued a West Jet credit.
Now wanting to book package and bring MORE people and they will not let us book unless we book separately. Flights + Hotel, not a package.
Of course its $400 more per person to do so in this format.
Why???
I will NEVER, EVER use Travelocity again. My flight was cancelled by the airline back in June due to COVID. I’ve been trying to get a refund ever since. Impossible! Travelocity blames Aeromexico, AM states that I have to go through Travelocity; they just continue to blame each other. Insurance will not help because they don’t cover cancelations due to Covid.
I took Travelocity/Expedia,Inc. to Small Claims Court and the Judge ordered that a judgement was granted to the Plaintiff (me) against the Defendant (Travelocity/Expedia) for the cost of a Hotel and legal fees that was affected because of Covid. How best can I collect the claim amount?
