Hayes Mansion, San Jose - Curio Collection by Hilton
"If you enjoy staying at historic properties, you'll probably love this place: the former mansion of one of San Jose's most prominent families, its been beautifully restored and maintained in the style of the Gilded Age. Interesting balance between the historic touches and modern art. Well located, with plenty of parking. I just had three little complaints. First, check in isn't until 4pm. I was on a tight schedule and wanted to get into my room ASAP; the front desk staff said they'd text me as soon as the room became available, but they didn't. I ended up going back to the front desk at 4:15, and the room had already been serviced. Second, the ice machine on my floor was broken. And third, the rooms (at least in my building) were nicely appointed but incredibly dark, with few light sources. Oh, and the breakfast options were either a lavish buffet ($28.99) or Continental (pastries, coffee, and oatmeal - $15.99). No option to order a savory/protein b'fast off a menu. Other than that, it's a lovely place to stay."
