Gorgeous cabin set at the end of a mountain road in Red River Gorge. The surroundings are beautiful and very private. The road is partially paved, but very steep at one point, and with potholes that may be tough in some cars. Our minivan handled it, but an SUV or truck would be better.
The cabin is close to a lot of activities. Gorge Underground is 4-5 minutes. Trails to the Natural bridge, access to the sky lift, and the state resort park are all within 8-10 minutes. Local restaurants are tasty. Try Miguel's Pizza!
Interior of the cabin was broom clean. Some areas need a little deeper cleaning, but nothing out of the ordinary. With a king bed, two queens, a full, and twin, there's plenty of bed space for medium families.
Outside, there's a hammock and fire pit in the backyard, which is directly adjacent the state park. The views are gorgeous!
There's a lot to like at this property. Unfortunately, it was hard to really appreciate due to the smell. Something is very wrong under/around the hall bath, which is between the master bath and the kitchen. It smells TERRIBLE. Almost like a septic tank is backed up or not working properly. We kept the door closed, but the smell gets worse when the water is on and permeates the hall, kitchen, and master bath. Management said maintenance didn't notice a smell, but it's VERY strong. It was unresolved when we left.
If management addresses the cause of the smell, I'd recommend. Right now I can't, and that's a shame.
