The hotel is an incredibly well preserved house from the 1830s well situated in the French Quarter within walking distance of many of the cities attractions. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We stayed in one of the suites and it did not feel like we were in a hotel at all. The suites do face the road, so be prepared for normal city noises, but the ambiance is well worth a little traffic.
Our stay at Lamothe House was actually in one of the rooms on Kerlerec St. and we had our own front porch. The hotel is beautiful, conveniently located to the French Quarter. Our room was clean and comfortable. The price for the room was great which made up for paying $40/day for secure parking.
This hotel is in the perfect area! Right between frenchman and french quarter and right on the streetcar line. We would definitely stay again. The only thing to note is we would not stay in the same room. We were at the back of the hotel by the back exit. Every time the staff or other hotel guest would exit the property the door would bang so loud it would wake us up throughout the night and we are not light sleepers.
We loved the location and vibe of Lamothe! The hotel is an easy walk to the main tourist attractions but is on a quieter street. The pool was a nice addition, too. However, we were disappointed in our room. Unlike the photos shown on the hotel website and booking sites, our room was not in the main hotel building. They've added a building in the back of the property for extra rooms which unfortunately had no windows, chairs, or coffee table. The lack of windows was claustrophobic. We would stay here again, but would make sure to get a room in the main building!
Hotel was in a very convenient location-super close to the French quarter and Frenchman’s street. Plenty of walkable bars, restaurants and shops.
The pool is really nice -perfect temperature and plenty of shade as well.
The hotel itself is a 2 star property; could definitely use some deep cleaning and it would have been nice to have a patio or balcony-or even windows that open.
But for the price it’s a good deal.
I have stayed at Lamothe House before and it was a great experience. This time it was not because I was in room 116. It is the only room part of the hotel not inside the main courtyard (the door exits directly to the street) completely external to the building. We asked to be switched and they said they would check when guests checked out the following day. They never checked. A homeless person slept directly outside the room so when we exited the room door that’s what we walked into. I also booked the room because previously the spa area was nice, however they never turned the temperature up even when we asked the front desk to turn it up, and had to walk onto the street in our bathing suit because of our door. They were polite enough but I felt screwed anyway, I still paid the same price.
The place is great. Rooms have a great view, and we will stay there again. The only problem is if you have a person who cannot go up stairs. Mu mother had a hard time going ul and down the stairs specially with luggage. Just be aware of that. Beside this, it was a great experience.
It was fun place, but our room across street didn't have any windows except super high above the door, so felt a little weird. Gorgeous inside and nicely renovated bathroom and comfy bed. Parking was ok lot with gate.
The website on Hotel.com said it had breakfast but it did not. Pool was warm but we didn't go in.
