Catamaran Resort and Spa
5 out of 5

"Relaxing stay, perfect weather, and plenty to do. The resort itself is older, but they’ve done a solid job maintaining the property overall.
That said, as someone who tends to be proactive, I found much of the staff to be more reactive. For example, I had to notify the spa twice that the sauna was not working, and that several shower divider rings were missing, leaving the dividers hanging loose. The lobby had a very long check-in line and didn’t add additional staff at the desk until it was brought to their attention.
One morning, I sat outside for about 20 minutes waiting for breakfast service. The doors were wide open and music was playing, but when I asked a staff member what time they opened, she responded, “I think 7am,” which didn’t inspire much confidence. At another point, I locked myself out of my room and encountered a language barrier with the housekeeping staff, which made resolving the issue more difficult than it needed to be.
There was also a visibly cracked table that housed a firepit in a common area. While caution tape was placed around it, nothing was moved, repaired, or properly addressed during my entire five-day stay. It remained a noticeable and unattended issue the whole time.
If the team were more proactive—addressing issues as they notice them and anticipating guest needs—the experience could easily rise to a much higher level. As it stands, I’d rate it a C+. The location made it great; the service made it just okay."
