City Centre Dublin Hotel Guide

Ireland is often on people's "must visit" list, and Dublin, the republic's capital, is typically the first place they go. Flights to Dublin get you about 30 minutes outside of Dublin City Centre, site of many of the best places to see and explore. Hotels near Dublin City Centre can be found on both sides of the River Liffey, and you just may be able to see the imposing edifice of Dublin Castle from your window.

Dublin City Centre

There's enough in Dublin City Centre to keep you busy for days, especially if you're a history lover or literary fan. Embark on a self-guided, two-hour literary tour of Dublin that starts at the Dublin Writer's Museum on Parnell Square. Learn about James Joyce and other famous writers who lived and studied in this beautiful city. The tour ends at Trinity College, founded in 1592, site of the Old Library, whose Long Room is home to many medieval manuscripts, including the Book of Kells.

Dublin City Centre hotels are a great place to stay for anybody planning to tour the Guinness Storehouse or the Old Jameson Distillery (or both—they're a little less than a mile apart), as you may want to imbibe in some extra samples at the tour's end. Fill your belly beforehand or afterward at any of the local Irish pubs, where you can enjoy Irish stew or beef & Guinness pie with chips. Make time to visit St. Patrick's Cathedral, which dates from 1220. Guided tours are available, but you should try to come during Evensong choral services to really experience the grandeur of the cathedral.
