The Academy Hotel Colorado Springs
"The hotel itself needs updating badly. The room was very dated. Quite a few of the light bulbs in the room were burnt out. The restaurant was out of almost everything on the menu so it was useless. The staff was very nice and tried to be helpful. There are many hotels in the area. Would not stay ..."

"Had a nice view of the mountains but blind was broken and couldn't keep it up. Called front desk and was told the engineer would be up to fix it. Never showed! No continental breakfast. Cheaper hotels we have stayed in does. Not worth the money. Carpets were very old. Charged $19 for using a card ..."

"Clean room. Nice bed. The woman who greeted us at the front desk was very kind, welcoming, and helpful. The evening crew was a different story. We requested an extra pillow and blanket and were told that we could “come down and get it myself.” The extra blanket was a very old looking, not very soft ..."

Cheyenne Mountain Resort, a Destination by Hyatt Hotels
"The property is older but nicely maintained. After visiting the area, the nightly rate, PLUS the extra parking fees and extra resort fees are a little excessive for what you get and for the area. It would be nice at check in if they offer you a map of the full property; listing the amenities the resort fees cover, and not just a map of the different units. We called the front desk one evening to find out where the pool/hot tub was located and what the hours were because we were wanting to head down. We made the walk to the pool, only to find out it was closed due to weather (not the properties fault), but it would have been nice if the front desk would have mentioned that to us, before security had to yell at us to leave. It wasn't raining, but I guess there was lightening nearby to close the pool/hot tub (we didn't notice bad weather?). After a long day of hiking the hot tub would have been nice! The room beds and pillows are comfy. There are robes and slippers in the closet. Towels and wash clothes are nice and thick. There's a blow drier, and magnification mirror under the sink. The balcony was nice. The Keurig coffee maker in our room did not work correctly - it would fill the coffee cup with coffee grounds and didn't drip the correct water ratio. Yuck! There are not many wall outlets to charge electronics and lighting in the room is really dim. Bring a charging port with extra outlets if there are more than two people in your room."
