Chanhassen

A small town with big appeal, Chanhassen never lets any visitor feel anything less than 100 percent at home. All that gorgeous outdoor space is just the cherry on the cake.

Warm and welcoming Chanhassen is a must-visit if you want to experience that characteristic Midwest small-town charm. It's compact enough that you'll feel like you know it inside out pretty quickly, but it's also within easy reach of the much larger Twin Cities of Minnesota: Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Chanhassen's greatest assets are probably its beautiful outdoor spaces. It has 12 lakes, many of them with beaches well worth a visit. Where to start? Well, Lake Ann Park & Beach is the ideal spot for a summer boating or fishing trip. Swimmers can dive straight in at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park, patrolled by lifeguards in the hottest months, and Lake Susan Beach is picnic perfection.

All in all, Chanhassen's network of parks covers an impressive 500 acres. The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is a highlight, as beautiful in winter when its cross-country ski routes are in use as it is in the flower-filled spring. You'll also find around 90 miles of walking and biking trails winding all over the city and through its green spaces. Love getting active while you're out and about? Great! Chanhassen's your perfect match. Never bonded with the great outdoors? That's OK too because Chanhassen is the perfect place to fall in love with fresh air.

If you like your sporting activities chilled, take the chance to tee off at one of the local golf courses. In the evening, a show at Chanhassen Dinner Theaters will round off your day of laid-back fun.
