It is absolutely, positively SHAMEFUL of Travelocity / Expedia to keep Red Carpet Inn / Scottish Inn off Route 10 in Whippany NJ on its travel websites. This is NOT even a 1 star hotel! It is used as a homeless shelter not only for good people just temporarily in a tough spot but for drug addicts and criminals. Imagine - I spoke to someone upon leaving and there are young families with babies there, getting sick from the amount of mold and mildew in all the carpeting! Getting ill from the bad water. The young woman I spoke to was upset that the State of New Jersey had the nerve to send her there to stay after losing her home from a job loss - so that tells you the owners are getting kickbacks from the State and don't care to keep the property nice for anyone, much less world weary travelers. If I was allowed to upload more photos, I would! I have so many on the unsafe, unclean conditions of the rooms, the buildings, the attitude of the family who owns and runs the place. I wanted to cancel and get another place before going there after reading the reviews but the refund would have taken 7 to 10 days, and money was needed to cover other travel for a memorial service between paychecks. All I can say is this is false advertising! NONE of the photos posted by the owners on Travelocity or elsewhere are the actual conditions of the rooms! Do NOT book here! I will be filing complaints to whomever oversees travel hotels, and see if that makes Travelocity do something.

My trip was cancel when I got to that hotel also the place is a shelter not a hotel. There was hanging out infront place a dog in the lobby and loud music. It not a safe place for anyone. Very nasty place.

HORRIBLE HOTEL

HORRIBLE ! It is a horrible Hotel. Garbage all around. Stinky. Carpet is terrible. Spits on the walls and ceilings. No Curtains or Blinds. No privacy. Electric switches don't work. Not livable.

This was by far the absolute worst place I have ever stayed. There were used band aids and the sheets still had hair. Everywhere smelled like smoke and the bathroom has an absurd amount of mold

Avoid this place

Shady establishment with odd people living in hotel rooms. Hallways were nasty and smelt like urine. Showers random changed temperatures and burnt me while using. beds were disgusting, overall bad smell in building. House cleaners were too aggressive and tried to kick us out early. Lobby staff was incompetent too. Check out days 12 (noon) on app but they tried to get us to vacate before 11. Avoid this mess at all costs

Don't go there

Cleanliness was so so good but not great. The inn has false advertising we had no refrigerator till the next day after i complained about it no microwave no chairs by the table broken dresser draw tv only had 2 channels working and not that great either. I did complain about the tv but nothing was done just came and looked at it. No breakfast in the morning as advertised and no diner on site either because it is closed down. In my opinion i think this is a section 8 housing inn being of all the family's i saw living there plus encountered 2 baby size roaches in the bathroom on my last day. I would not recommend this inn to anyone and I will never stay there again. It should be taken off of hotels booking site forever.

Outside of the hotel looks nice in the picture. But in person it looked poorly maintained and cheap. The room given to me was also cheap looking and dirty. There were cockroaches crawling. The room had a bad smell of some insecticide. I realized that they treated the room for cockroaches and failed to vent it afterwords. I knew that if I sleep in that room I will get sick. So, I cancelled the booking and left.

Roaches on the wall, guy lied and said he didn't have any more rooms then when I kept asking what he was going to do about the roaches he gave another room. Room had sliding glass doors in the back that had one little piece of metal locking it. No ice, no towels, total dump, I should have left.
