Recent Nags Head Woods Preserve hotel reviews by fellow wanderers

John Yancey Oceanfront Inn
"Overall, the place is dated but the rooms have all been updated. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was great. From previous reviews, it seems they have added to the breakfast. There were breakfast sandwiches, waffles, oats, muffins, bagels, boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, juices, milk. It was a great start to the day before heading to the beach. We loved the gazebo area and ate several meals there. The access to the beach was perfect. Parking is tight and one night after returning from dinner and mini golf, there were no spots in any of the lots. The staff ended up directing us to an area designated as no parking and allowed us to park assuring us that our vehicle would not be towed. The only other issue would be the laundry room. There was only one working washer. It did make it difficult to try to wash clothes but we managed by often doing laundry late at night. Overall, we would stay here again. It was family friendly. The staff were all so kind. The place was clean. The direct beach access was fantastic."
