Absolutely Amazing Stay!

My family stayed at the Canary Lakehouse for a few days and it was spectacular! The staff was super friendly and accommodating, the check in process was easy and the house was just as pictured. They had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. Clean, close to the lake and easy to find. We could not have asked for a better stay.

Eh, it could’ve been worse I guess.

I’m not sure whether it was because it was the off season (Feb) or what, but the house definitely could have been cleaner. There were cobwebs and spiders everywhere, the baseboards were dirty, our feet were black from walking on the floors the first hour there, the ceiling fans were dusty, it sounds like there’s a leak in the ceiling when the sink on the 3rd floor is running, the towels were left in the dryer when we arrived instead of being put away, the refrigerator had food an handprints all over the front of it, almost every single dish, utensil, pan or cup we pulled out of the cabinets had some sort of food caked on them so we had to wash them by hand before using them. (I have pics but nowhere to upload them). Maybe I am a bit too picky, but these are things that should be cleaned before a guest arrives. Especially when paying the equivalent of a mortgage payment for just two nights. There was no cleaner for the kitchen so we had to go buy our own. I’m pretty sure when we left, the place was cleaner than it was when we arrived. Other than the lack of cleanliness, the house was great for the weekend. It’s a nice house, big enough to accommodate a large family and in a great location and the property management company was easy to work with so that’s why I was generous with the star rating. It’s not the owner’s fault that the cleaning crew didn’t do the job they were hired to do.

Family retreat

Canary House

The property is as described— our family enjoyed the fire pit area and time in the hot tub. We saw deer every day and night. Though water is not in this part of the lake at this time— the walk down the back side of the property is still nice. We rented a boat from Cranes Mill marina, (short drive), and had a great time on the lake. We had 2 pups with us and they had a blast on the property— great time at the Canary Lakehouse!

The house itself was nice, roomy and comfortable. Needs cleaning attention. The porches were very dirty, not cleaned prior to our arrival. Furniture, doors were dirty, and had another person's dirty black shirt and broken beer bottle. Fire extinguisher sign on porch, but no fire extinguisher. Floors inside weren't swept or mopped prior to our stay...dead bugs. Inside walls need attention. Biggest disappointment was that the lake has been DRIED UP for years! Online description and picture is false advertisement. Property manager was very considerate and helpful via text. With some attention, this house would be a very nice place to stay.

Weekend getaway

Overall, the rental was close to the description. The inside was just as described and had everything you needed. We enjoyed the privacy and short walk to the lake. Lake levels are very low. The outside just needs some tlc.

Birthday Weekend

Unfortunately the rental was a disappointment, the first impression of the house when we first drove in made me want to turn around and leave. The property was dirty, the grass was not cut the patios were dirty as well as the furnishings. Sitting outside was not an option. The kitchen was nice but new pots and pans are a must there were 3 pans that the breakfast foods got stuck too. The other 2 cast iron pans were rusted needed washing before they could be used. The living room couch pillows and throw rug were completely stained really dirty, we really didn’t want to sit on them. We went out for dinner the bbq was full of grease and dirty wasn’t useable at all. We rented the house for my husband and son’s birthdays but the management needs to do a better job with this property. We spent most of our time at the lake or in Gruene only came back to sleep, although we weren’t really sure if the linen had been washed after everything else we saw. We found a pair of women’s shorts on the tv stand downstairs, someone wasn’t paying attention. We have stayed in many rentals over the years but nothing like this. I took pictures of everything in case they are needed. For future renters stay away from this property, it’s not worth the money. Not pet friendly at all the yard connected to the property had trash and clothes all over a trampoline with really tall grass and at night a bunch of kids would go down a private road with music blaring and yelling sitting on the back of the truck.

Weekend Getaway

The home was very nice and new! Lots of stairs, so be prepared to climb. Very peaceful and quiet area. Short hike down to the lake, but the lake levels are extremely low. My son went antique bottle hunting. Found bottles from the 60's. Thats how low the lake is. Had some issues with the wifi, but that didnt bother us. Was nice to be disconnected.

Great modern lake house for family and friends!

If you're looking for a Lake House with modern amenities then this is it. Easy to fine, lots of space for everyone, The only cons are there are no doors for the bottom and top floor bedrooms so sound travels easily from the other rooms. The grill also needs a deep cleaning as the burners could barely get the grill warm. Overall still a great place and would recommend for a getaway weekend with friends or family.

Not Bad, But Could Be Better

Let me first say that we had a great time on our little getaway and the house itself is really awesome. Loved the decks on all the floors and enjoyed a few dips in the hot tub. However, cleanliness isn't a priority here. The main floor sofa was filthy (neither of us would even sit on it), as well as the main floor deck furniture, the deck itself, the grill was gross & covered in dirt and grease, etc. It was quite obvious that no one had been there recently to clean or check on the property. Upon our arrival, we had to find a broom and sweep the main floor deck because it was covered in broken glass. There was trash in the outside trash can as well. The hot tub was dirty, but we turned it on and left it on and it cleared up. I did send management photos to let them know of the issues (and that we didn't create the issues) but they were not concerned and did nothing to try to correct the problems. There were zero sheet pans to use to cook things in the oven, which was an issue for us, as we had shopped and planned to cook our dinners at the house. Again, this property is really great but could definitely use some TLC and attention to detail for this to be an outstanding getaway. There was no water in the lake, which was a bummer, but nothing can be done about that. We ate dinner at the local Italian restaurant and it was fantastic. Definitely a must! (gennarostrattoria)

The Canary Lakehouse!!

This house is adorable. Came here for my father birthday! Exactly like the pictures minus the lake running really low (no one is to blame). The fire pit was my father favorite! Really nice conversational area with plenty of chairs around the pit, Cool front came through, so it was A+! The hot tub was clean and relaxing, also the washer/dryer was handy for having clean dry towels, definitely helpful! The 2nd floor hang out space was so modern and clean; I really liked it came stocked with your basic needs of seasonings & pots etc. Plenty of sleeping space which were spacious. Overall, we highly enjoyed ourselves. We brought our 2 dogs that was able to roam within our space having fun finding sticks and having a large tree to hang under for shade. Check in was a breeze, and having live support from the host was amazing. Really kind helpful folks that were only an email or text away.

Great House for Daughters 21st Birthday

Had friends and family over for daughters 21st birthday and was a great house. Very clean, plenty of room for everyone, plenty of room to park, great outdoors area with hot tub, corn hole, firepit, and a close walk to the lake. House was 3 stories and everyone felt apart of the get together because all the balconies and the backyard are on the same side so everyone could hear and be apart of the conversations no matter where they were in the house. Very close to the boat ramp as well with plenty of room to park a trailer. A/C worked great to the temperature you set it to. had trouble with the WiFi at the beginning but send out a tech on saturday morning and fix in an hour, so very responsive staff.

Nice Place

Nice house with easy check in/ out process. Very quiet. My wife and ai enjoyed our stay. Lots of Deer walking around in the morning and evening s and a short walk down to the lake. Would stay here again.

Property/Management in Need of Major Improvement

At the time of our arrival it was apparent that the property had not been properly cleaned before our stay. We reached out to the management company about the cleanliness, to see if there was a vacuum located at the property, and the Wi-Fi being out as well. There was pet hair EVERYWHERE, clumps of it in the corners, all over the flooring, couches covered, etc. Other than the pet hair, the bottom level bedding was dirty with leftover used soap bars in the bathroom, main level bathroom had yellow residue on the outside of the toilet and a dirty shower, kitchen had many gnats all over the vent cover and counters, and the upper level bedroom had hair, dead bugs, and dirt in multiple areas. Pictures were sent to management and they had their cleaning crew come out to do a "surface clean" after we had already began cleaning the areas ourself. They removed the couch pillows and vacuumed the main level and wiped down the main bathroom. The Wi-fi was extremely spotty all weekend. I reached out to the management company following our stay to express our concerns with the property and requested our cleaning fee be refunded due to the property not being properly cleaned before we arrived and the cleaning products we had to purchase to clean up as well. I received no response. Unfortunately, due to the major lack of cleanliness and communication we would never stay here again or recommend this property to anyone.

Family Gathering

The house is just lovely and we enjoyed our stay very much. There were a few things we encountered that made the week more challenging. The bathroom faucets in two of the four sinks had no water coming out. Family sleeping on the lowest level had to come upstairs to the main bath or to the third level to brush teeth and wash hands. Secondly, there were no cookie sheets or steak knives in the kitchen. Not absolutely necessary but we really could have used them! Also, there was only one kitchen towel. We would like to recommend a ceiling fan for the lower level as it stayed warmer than the rest of the house, especially for sleeping. The upper level got quite frigid trying to compensate. Lastly, we felt the outside deck and inside floors were not cleaned well before we got there. That being said, we loved the hot tub, the location, the swings, paddleboards and the upper deck. Very nice amenities! We appreciated being able to have two dogs with us as well. April was attentive during the week and asked me to send photos of things we encountered while there, which we did. We would stay again.

Weekend Getaway

We stayed with a small group! Kitchen was so great to cook in with a group and the patio is perfect for hanging out! The view though. Just breathtaking! Thanks for having us! Can’t wait for next year!

Amazing weekend getaway spot.

This property is absolutely beautiful, with so many things to do from cookouts on the patio to relaxing in the hot tub watching the sunset! S’mores around the campfire and games of cornhole sure kept us busy! The home is very spacious and welcoming! And this property is pet friendly a major plus!! There were a few hiccups, we were unable to access the internet all weekend, so no Wi-Fi or tv. Also, not sure how it happened but we’re woken up at 7am by local PD saying the alarm had gone off, when we didn’t have any access to that, and we were all still asleep.
