Cheap Flights to Nassau

Flights to Nassau, Bahamas

Nassau is the largest city in the Bahamas and is a wonderful location for first-time visitors and returning tourists. With beautiful beaches and thriving nightlife, a visit to Nassau is filled with everything a vacation should have: relaxation, rejuvenation, and fun. Named in the late 1600s, Nassau is full of history, and its Caribbean location means it saw more than its share of piracy a few centuries ago.

Use Travelocity to be sure you’re vacationing on the cheap. Flights to Bahamas islands land in a few different places: A Nassau or New Providence flight will usually land at Lynden Pindling International Airport, while cheap flights to Bahamas locations other than these might take you to Grand Bahama International. Browse a plethora of cheap flights to the Bahamas and start planning your vacation; once you see how much Nassau has to offer, you’ll realize you don’t want to go anywhere else!

Beyond the Beach: Attractions

Take a boat over to Blue Lagoon Island, which is located about five kilometers from Nassau, and experience nature at its most breathtaking. The island has turquoise water, white sand, and coral reefs. It’s the perfect place to see dolphins and sea lions, too.

Nassau’s Queen’s Staircase is a popular tourist attraction and one of Nassau’s historical sites. Built in the late 1700s, the staircase is more than 100 feet tall. Take a walk up or down the staircase and see a tunnel built through the hill in the mid-19th century nearby. There’s also a fort from which people used to watch for pirates.

Water Activities

If you crave adventure, go snorkeling or scuba-diving. Many island boat tours include a snorkeling stop to see coral reefs. Scuba-diving will take you deeper into the reefs, in and around shipwrecks, and even to see sharks. Just be careful to follow instructions so you don’t get decompression sickness during your trip home from the Bahamas: Flights aren’t a good idea directly after scuba-diving.

Tours and Nature for Relaxation

If you’d rather not get wet while exploring, then take a boat tour of the area. Several options are available: You can take a fishing charter and actually see the crew catch fish or take a ferry to one of the nearby islands for a chance to explore new surroundings. If you’re not in the mood to go on the water, take a horse-drawn carriage tour of downtown, the best way to avoid walking the hilly streets.

The Ardastra Gardens, Zoo, and Conservation Centre are perfect if you find yourself facing a cloudy day. The beautiful gardens look more like a jungle, and the facility is dedicated to preserving endangered animals. For a more historical experience in some beautiful gardens, check out the Versailles Gardens and French Cloister. They are beautifully landscaped with statues and stone pathways, and the cloister architecture is breathtaking. For those with an interest in art, make sure to see the National Art Gallery of the Bahamas.

Winter is Peak Season

Peak season in the Bahamas is from the second half of December to the first half of April, and the destination becomes a haven for those who need a break from winter. If you need to get away from the snow and the cold for a while, the weather will certainly be beautiful. Hotel rates, however, will be higher, cheap flights to the Bahamas will be harder to find, and you can expect everything to be more crowded.

The summer months, especially June and August, see a considerable amount of precipitation, and hurricane season might cause delays in flights to Nassau. Bahamas weather is a bit unpredictable during summer and fall, so keep that in mind when you’re planning your vacation.

Travelocity ensures that you get the best rates for your hotel and your flight: In fact, we guarantee it! To Bahamas vacationers, nothing is more important than getting to those white-sand beaches. Book now and experience a vacation as it’s meant to be.
